Errorswithoutmessages
•Problem:MyscreenkeepsblankingwhenIdonotwantitto.
Solution:IfyoucomputerispreinstalledwiththeWindows7operatingsystem,youcandisableany
systemtimers,suchastheLCDturn-offtimerortheblanktimerbydoingthefollowing:
1.StartPowerManager.
2.ClickthePowerplantab,andthenselectMaximumPerformancefromthepredefinedpowerplans.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,nothingisdisplayedonthescreenandthecomputerdoesnot
beepwhilestartingup.
Note:Ifyouarenotsurewhetheryouheardanybeeps,turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthe
powerbuttonforfoursecondsormore.Thenturnonthecomputerandlistenagain.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thebatteryisinstalledcorrectly.
–Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandthepowercordispluggedintoaworking
electricaloutlet.
–Thecomputeristurnedon.(Pressthepowerbuttonagainforconfirmation.)
–Thebrightnesslevelofthescreenisappropriatelyset.
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,pressanykeytodisplaythepromptforthepower-onpasswordand
thentypethecorrectpasswordandpressEnter.
Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,onlyawhitecursorisdisplayedonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodifiedapartitiononyourharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrivebyusing
partitionsoftware,informationaboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythecursoronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedthepartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,
orsolid-statedrivebyusingthesoftware,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–Usetherecoverysolutionstorestorethesystemtothefactorydefaultstate.
Iftheproblempersists,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Myscreengoesblankwhilethecomputerison.
Solution:Yourscreensaverorpowermanagementmighthavebeenenabled.Doeitherofthefollowing:
–TouchtheTrackPointpointingdeviceortheThinkPadtrackpad,orpressakeytoexitthescreensaver.
–Pressthepowerbuttontoresumethecomputerfromsleeporhibernationmode.
