Installingdevicedrivers
Devicedriveristheprogramthatoperatesaparticularhardwaredeviceofthecomputer.Ifadevicedoes
notperformwelloryouinstallanewdevice,youneedtoinstallorupdatethecorrespondingdevicedriver.
Forexample,ifyouusetheWindows7operatingsystem,tousetheUSB3.0connector,youneedto
downloadandinstalltheUSB3.0driver.
Todownloadthelatestdevicedrivers,dothefollowing:
1.Gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/ThinkPadDrivers.
2.Selectyourproductnametoviewallthedevicedriversforyourcomputer.
3.Selectthedevicedriversyouthatyouneed,andfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Attention:DonotdownloadthedevicedriversfromtheWindowsUpdateWeb.Alwaysdownloadthedevice
driversfrom:

IfyouusetheWindows7operatingsystem,youalsocanfindthedevicedriversintheC:\SWTOOLS\DRIVERS

UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram
TheThinkPadSetupprogramenablesyoutoselectvarioussetupconfigurationsforyourcomputerthrough
configuringtheBIOS.
ToconfiguretheBIOSofyourcomputer,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonthecomputer.WhentheThinkPadlogoisdisplayed,pressF1.TheThinkPadSetupprogram
starts.
Ifyouarerequiredtoenterthesupervisorpassword,enterthecorrectpassword.Youalsocanpress
EntertoskipthepasswordpromptandstarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.Ifyoudonotenterthe
password,youcannotchangetheconfigurationsthatareprotectedbythesupervisorpassword.For
moreinformation,referto“Usingpasswords”onpage45.
2.Usethecursorkeystoselectatab;orusethecursorkeystolocateanitemandpressEntertoselectit.

3.Setthevalueofanitembydoingoneofthefollowing:
•PresstheF6keytochangetoahighervalue.
•PresstheF5keytochangetoalowervalue.
Note:Defaultvaluesareinboldface.
4.Tochangeotherconfigurations,presstheEsckeytoexitthesubmenuandreturntotheparentmenu.
5.Whenyoucompletetheconfiguration,presstheF10keytosaveandexit.Youalsocanselectthe
RestarttabintheThinkPadSetupmenu,andrestartyourcomputerwithoneoftheprovidedoptions.
