•Yourfingeriswrinkled.
•Yourfingerisrough,dry,orinjured.
•Yourfingerisstainedwithdirt,mud,oroil.
•Thesurfaceofyourfingerisdifferentfromwhenyouenrolledyourfingerprint.
•Yourfingeriswet.
•Afingerisusedthathasnotbeenenrolled.
Toimprovethesituation,trythefollowing:
•Cleanorwipeyourhandstoremoveanyexcessdirtormoisturefromthefingers.
•Enrollanduseadifferentfingerforauthentication.
•Ifyourhandsaredry,applylotiontothem.

Noticeondeletingdatafromyourharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,or
solid-statedrive
Someofthedatastoredontheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrivemightbesensitive.Handing
yourcomputerovertosomeoneelsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperatingsystemsand
applicationsoftware,mightevenviolatelicenseagreements.Besuretodeletedatastoredontheharddisk
drive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrivebeforeyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.
Youcanusethefollowingmethodstodeletedatafromtheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrive:
•MovethedatatotheRecycleBin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Deletethedata.
•Formatyourharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-statedrive,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringtheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-state
drivebacktothefactorydefaultsettings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangethefilelocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.The
dataisstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseof
specialsoftwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatpeopleofbadfaithmightreadandmisusethecritical
dataonharddiskdrives,hybriddrives,orsolid-statedrivesforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itisimportantthatyoudeleteallthedatafromtheharddiskdriveorhybriddrive
whenyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedataphysicallybysmashingthe
harddiskdriveorhybriddrivewithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagneticpower,thus
makingthedataunreadable.Butitisrecommendedthatyouusethesoftware(payware)orservice(pay
service)developedforthatpurpose.Theprocessmighttakeseveralhours.
Fordisposingofdataonthesolid-statedrive,LenovoprovidestheDriveEraseUtilityforResettingthe
CryptographicKeyandErasingtheSolidStateDrivetool.Fordisposingofdataontheharddiskdrive,Lenovo
