Toputthecomputerintohibernationmode,dothefollowing:
ForWindows7:OpentheStartmenu,thenclickthearrownexttotheShutdownbutton.Click
Hibernatefromthemenudisplayed.
ForWindows8.1:Definewhatthepowerbuttondoesfirst,thenpressthepowerbuttontoputthe
computerintohibernationmode.Formoreinformation,seeFrontview.
Ifyouputyourcomputerintohibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctiondisabled,thecomputerdoes
notconsumeanypower.Thewake-upfunctionisdisabledbydefault.Ifyouputyourcomputerinto
hibernationmodewiththewake-upfunctionenabled,thecomputerconsumesasmallamountofpower.
Toenablethewake-upfunction,dothefollowing:
1.GotoControlPanelandclickSystemandSecurity.
2.ClickAdministrativeTools.
3.ClickTaskScheduler.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.Fromtheleftpane,selectthetaskfolderforwhichyouwanttoenablethewake-upfunction.The
scheduledtasksaredisplayed.
5.Clickascheduledtask,andthenclicktheConditionstab.
6.UnderPower,selectthecheckboxforWakethecomputertorunthistask.
Toputthecomputerintohibernationmode,changeyourpowerplansettingsbydoingthefollowing:
ForWindows7:StartthePowerManagerprogramandthenclickthePowerPlantab.Thenfollow
theinstructionsonthescreen.ForinstructionsonhowtostartthePowerManagerprogram,see
AccessingLenovoprogramsontheWindows7operatingsystem”onpage13.
ForWindows8.1:Gotothedesktop.Right-clickthebatterystatusiconintheWindowsnotification
areaandclickPowerOptions,clickChangeplansettingsthatisnexttoyourpowerplan.Then
followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Wirelessoff
Whenyouarenotusingthewirelessfeatures,suchasBluetoothorwirelessLAN,turnthemoff.This
willhelpconservepower.Toturnoffthewirelessfeatures,pressF8.
Handlingthebattery
ThissystemsupportsonlybatteriesspeciallydesignedforthisspecificsystemandmanufacturedbyLenovo
oranauthorizedbuilder.Thesystemdoesnotsupportunauthorizedbatteriesorbatteriesdesignedforother
systems.Ifanunauthorizedbatteryorabatterydesignedforanothersystemisinstalled,thesystemwill
notcharge.
Attention:Lenovohasnoresponsibilityfortheperformanceorsafetyofunauthorizedbatteries,and
providesnowarrantiesforfailuresordamagearisingoutoftheiruse.
Note:Ifanunauthorizedbatteryisinstalled,thefollowingmessagewillbedisplayed:“Thebatteryinstalled
isnotsupportedbythissystemandwillnotcharge.PleasereplacethebatterywiththecorrectLenovo
batteryforthissystem.
