Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,dothefollowing:
•Usethebatteryuntilthechargeiscompletelydepleted.
•Rechargethebatterycompletelybeforeusingit.Youcanseewhetherthebatteryisfullychargedfromthe
batterystatusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
•Alwaysusepowermanagementfeaturessuchaspower-savingmodes.
Managingthebatterypower
Toachievethebestbalancebetweenperformanceandpowersaving,adjustyourpowerplansettings.To
achievethis,dothefollowing:
1.Fromthedesktop,clickthebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationareaonthetaskbar.
2.ClickMorepoweroptions➙Changeplansettings.
3.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.

Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofbatterypower.
•Screenblankmode(forWindows7only)
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffthepowertothedisplayandmake
thecomputerenterscreenblankmode,right-clickthebatterygaugeiconintheWindowsnotificationarea
andselectPoweroffdisplay.
•Sleepmode
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthentheharddiskdrive,hybriddrive,orsolid-state
driveandthecomputerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestored
withinseconds.
Dependingonthemodel,yourcomputermightsupportthe30DayStandbyfunction.Whenthisfunction
isenabled,thecomputerconsumesevenlesspowerinsleepmodeandtakesonlysecondstoresume
normaloperationwhenyoupressthepowerbutton.Formoreinformationaboutthe30DayStandby
function,dothefollowing:
