Staticelectricityprevention
Staticelectricity,althoughharmlesstoyou,canseriouslydamagecomputercomponentsandoptions.
Improperhandlingofstatic-sensitivepartscancausedamagetothepart.Whenyouunpackanoptionor
aCRU,donotopenthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthepartuntiltheinstructionsdirectyou
toinstallthepart.
WhenyouhandleoptionsorCRUs,orperformanyworkinsidethecomputer,takethefollowingprecautions
toavoidstatic-electricitydamage:
•Limityourmovement.Movementcancausestaticelectricitytobuilduparoundyou.
•Alwayshandlecomponentscarefully.Handleadapters,memorymodules,andothercircuitboardsbythe
edges.Nevertouchexposedcircuitry.
•Preventothersfromtouchingcomponents.
•Whenyouinstallastatic-sensitiveoptionorCRU,touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainsthe
parttoametalexpansion-slotcoverorotherunpaintedmetalsurfaceonthecomputerforatleasttwo
seconds.Thisreducesstaticelectricityinthepackageandyourbody.
•Whenpossible,removethestatic-sensitivepartfromthestatic-protectivepackageandinstallthepart
withoutsettingitdown.Whenthisisnotpossible,placethestatic-protectivepackageonasmooth,
levelsurfaceandplacethepartonthepackage.
•Donotplacethepartonthecomputercoverorothermetalsurface.
Replacingthecoin-cellbattery
Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructionsandread“Importantsafetyinformation”onpagevi.
DANGER
Ifthecoin-cellbatteryisincorrectlyreplaced,thereisdangerofanexplosion.Thecoin-cellbattery
containsasmallamountofharmfulsubstances.Toavoidpossibleinjury:
•ReplaceonlywithabatteryofthetyperecommendedbyLenovo.
•Keepthebatteryawayfromfire.
•Donotexposeittoexcessiveheat.
•Donotexposeittowaterorrain.
•Donotshort-circuitit.
