Anacpoweradapterproblem
Problem:Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandtheworkingelectricaloutlet,butthe
poweradapter(powerplug)iconisnotdisplayedintheWindowsnotificationarea.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Makesurethattheconnectionoftheacpoweradapteriscorrect.Forinstructionsonconnectingtheac
poweradapter,seeSafety,Warranty,andSetupGuidethatcomeswithyourcomputer.
2.Iftheconnectionoftheacpoweradapteriscorrect,turnoffthecomputer,thendisconnecttheacpower
adapterandremovethemainbattery.
3.Reinstallthebatteryandreconnecttheacpoweradapter,thenturnonthecomputer.
4.IfthepoweradaptericonstillisnotdisplayedintheWindowsnotificationareaandthesystem-status
indicatordoesnotblinkthreetimeswhenanacpowersourceisconnected,havetheacpoweradapter
andyourcomputerserviced.

ShowhiddeniconsintheWindowsnotificationarea.
Powerproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerbutton.Thepowerbuttonislitwheneverthecomputerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
firmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
5.Removealldevicesandthentestforsystempowerwithminimaldevicesattached.
a.Disconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
b.Closethecomputerdisplayandturnthecomputerover.
c.Removethebottomcoveranddisconnectthebatterycable.Referto“Replacingthestorage

e.RemovetheWirelessLANcard.Referto“ReplacingawirelessLANcard”onpage111.

g.Waitfor30seconds,andthenreinstallthememorymoduleandtheknowngoodbatteryortheac
poweradaptertotestthecomputerwithminimaldevicesattachedfirst.
h.Reinstalleachdeviceoneatatimethatyouhaveremovedintheearliersteps.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,disconnectandreconnectthebatterycable.Referto

Apowerbuttonproblem
Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
