•Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickSound.
4.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
5.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
6.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
7.ClickOK.
Note:Fordetailsaboutcontrollingvolume,refertoyourWindowsonlinehelp.
•Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisfixedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheprogramhasslidersavailableto
controlthesoundfromwithintheprogram.
•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
•Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffevenifyousettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheMastervolumecontrolandselectMutespeakers.
•Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
producesound.
Solution:Oncetheheadphoneisattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant
tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,besuretosetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.The
procedureisasfollows:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickAllControlPanelItems.
3.ClicktheSmartAudioicon.TheSmartAudiowindowopens.
