The FPI operates best in an ambient temperature
between 35 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Operation outside of this range may cause
unexpected or undesirable results, including
premature failure.
Weight
The FPI (including cabinet) weighs
approximately 1 pound.
Positioning the FPI
The FPI can be located:
 Near a GDP
 Near a Nurse Station
 Near a Multiplexer
 In an equipment room
Before Connecting the FPI
 Verifying the Fire Alarm Dry Contacts
The facility must provide an unused dry contact
in the fire alarm system for each FPI unit. (This
contact must be closed during a non-alarm state
and must OPEN in case of a fire alarm or loss of
fire alarm function.)
Verifying the Fire Alarm Dry Contacts
CAUTION: Before you test the system, notify
the facility and the local fire department that you
will be testing the fire alarm system.
To verify the operation of the fire alarm dry
contacts, use the following instructions:
1. Connect an ohmmeter across the dry
contacts. There should be continuity in
the non-alarm state. (Contact should be
closed.)
NOTE: There should never be voltage
on this contact.
2. Trip the fire alarm to verify that the
contacts change state. You should now
see an OPEN on your meter.
3. Reset the fire alarm and verify the
contacts go back to their closed state.
