6 In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click Use the following
IP address. See Figure 6-27.

7 Type the IP address and Subnet mask as follows:
IP address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway*:
* Do not type anything here. Gateway and DNS server entries are not used for
direct connection.
8 Click OK to exit the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.
9 Click OK to exit the Local Area Connection Properties window.
10 Click Close to exit the Local Area Connection Status window.
