SIGNSANDSYMPTOMSOFEXPOSURE:
Inhalation(Breathing):RespiratorySystemEff ects:Exposuretothesolidproductortofreechlorineevolving
fromtheproductmaycauseirritation,rednessofupperandlowerairways,coughing,laryngospasmand
edema,
shortnessofbreath,bronchoconstriction,andpossiblepulmonaryedema.Thepulmonaryedema
maydevelopseveralhoursafterasevereacuteexposure.
Skin:SkinCorrosion.Exposuretosolidalongwithmoisturemaycauseredness,irritation,burningsensation,
swelling,blisterformation,first,second,orthirddegreeburns.
ChronicToxicity: Monosodiumcyanuratewasadministeredviadrinking
watertoratsfor104weeksatconcentrationsof0,
400,1200,2400,and5375ppm(solubilitylimit).Nocompoundrelatedeffectsonbodyweights,clinical
signsoftoxicityorfoodorwaterconsumptionwerenotedduringthestudy.Anincreasedincidenceofgross
lesionsintheurinarytract,calculiin
thekidneyandlesionsintheheartwereobservedinmales receiving
thehighestdoselevelof5375ppm(solubilitylimit).Thehealtheffectsseeninthisstudyweredueto
precipitationofthetestsubstanceintheurinarytractwhenthetestsubstancewasfedatthesolubility
limit.
Adversehealtheff ectswerenotseenatlowerdoseswhereprecipitationdidnotoccur.
ReproductiveToxicity:
NotclassifiedasareproductivetoxinperGHScriteria.Therearenoknownorrecordedeffectson
reproductivefunctionorfetaldevelopment.
