7 LAN Access
7.1 Introduction
The Bluetooth LAN Access Profile (LAP) allows Bluetooth-enabled devices to
access the services of a LAN using Point-to-Point Protocol. In this usage model,
multiple data terminals use a LAN access point as a wireless connection to a
Local Area Network (LAN). Once connected, data terminals operate as if they are
connected to the LAN via dial-up networking and can access all the services
provided by the LAN.
The LAN application can be used in the following scenarios:
 A computer (or PDA) accesses a Local Area Network via a LAP Server.
 A computer (or PDA) accesses a Local Area Network via a LAN access point.
Note: Before using the LAN Access Profile in Windows98/Me, ensure that a Dial-up
Adapter and Windows’s component direct cable are already installed on the computer. (See
“Section 7.4: Settings for LAN Access Profile (client side) in Windows98/Me”). Moreover,
every operating system should have an installation of NetBEUI protocol; otherwise, it cannot
use computer name to visit other computer.
