Selecting Run will start the back up job. Note the LCD display will
show ‘RDX Backup’ and the Status indicates ‘Processing’ during
the job:

shares to be backed up. This example shows shares Music and
Picture will be backed up:

Select Next to move on to the summary of the back up job that is set
to run. The amount of data to be backed up will be shown along with
the capacity of the installed RDX cartridge. A calculation will be made
to determine the number of RDX cartridges that will be needed (note
this calculation is more than just the size of the back up divided by the
size of the RDX cartridge because there is also some overhead that will
be needed during the job as well as some rounding and conversions
between binary capacity and decimal capacity).
This example is 162.50GB for the amount of data to be backed up
and the RDX cartridges have a 74.52GB capacity (the RDX cartridge
is labeled as a 80GB capacity which is the decimal equivalent
of 75.42GB binary capacity). Three of these RDX cartridges are
estimated to be needed:

When the back up job is completed the unit will beep once, the
LCD display will show ‘Back up OK”, Status will change to Idle, and
a completion message will appear on the Management GUI.

Store the RDX cartridges in a safe place until it is time to restore
the data or reuse the cartridges.

running An rdX SpAnning reStore:
1. Insert the first RDX cartridge of the spanned RDX Back up into
the RDX dock to be used for the Restore. From the NAS tab,
select Local Backup and RDX Spanning. Note that the RDX
cartridge is mounted correctly (Mounted is Yes on the RDX
Spanning tab).
2. Mouse over the intended RDX target and select Restore to get
the Restore set up:
