The DataGuard Appliance can be used with Time Machine, a backup
utility included with Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7. To create a Time
Machine backup, follow these steps:
1. Make sure your Mac is running and connected to the same network
as the DataGuard Appliance.
2. Set up a Logic Drive to be used for each client’s Time Machine backup.
3. From the NAS tab, click the Local Backup then click the Time
Machine Backup tab.
4. Check the Enabled box.
5. The Display Name and the User Name can not be modified.
6. Enter the Password of the user account.
7. Choose a Mount Point from the pull-down menu. This will be the
Logical Drive that will hold the Time machine Backup. Each client
will use their own Logical Drive and this setting will need to be
changed for each user.
8. Enter the amount of storage space in GB allowed for the Time
Machine Backup. Entering 0 will give no limit. Entering too little will
trigger an error and incomplete back up.
9. Click the Save button.
The newly mounted drive should appear on the desktop, and in the
Finder labeled with the user account login user name.
For instructions on configuring Time Machine, refer to Apple
documentation.
