Each inclineprogram has twenty inclinesettings,
and each speed programhas twenty speed set-
tings. One settingis shown in each vertical column
ofthe LED matrix.The firstcolumnwillbe flashing.
Note: Everyfew seconds,thewords"PRESS
START" will scrollacrossthe LED matrix.
Enter your weight and age If deslmd.
Althoughit is not necessaryto enter yourweight
and age to use an inclineprogramor a speed pro-
gram,the CALORIES displaywillbe more accurate
ifthese numbersare entered.
To enter you weightand age, referto step 3 on
page 10. Ifyou have alreadyentered your weight
and age, or ifyou do not want toenter this informa-
tion, go tostep 4.

Put on the heart rate monitor If desired.
Forthe PULSE/CALORIES displaytoshowyour
heart rate, the heart rate monitormust be worn.To
puton the heart rate monitor,see HOW TO USE
THE HEART RATE MONITOR on page 6.
Press the START button.
Pressthe START buttonto start the program.After
a moment,the walkingbelt willbeginto move. Hold
the handrailsand begin walking.
If an Incline program Is selected: When the
START buttonispressed, the walkingbeltwillbegin
to moveat 1.0 mphand the incline willadjustto the
inclinesettingshown inthe firstcolumnofthe LED
matrix.Afterone minute(or90 secondsif a thirty-
minuteprogram is selected), the second columnof
the LED matrixwillbegintoflashand the inclinewill
adjusttothe inclinesettingshown inthe secondcol-
umn.Afteranotherminute(or 90 seconds),thethird
column will beginto flash and the inclinewill adjust
tothe settingshown inthe thirdcolumn. The pro-
gram willcontinue inthisway untilthetwentieth col-
umn isflashing and no time remainsin the TIME dis-
play.The walkingbeltwillthenslowto a stop.
The speed ofthe walkingbeltcan beadjusted during
the inclineprogramwiththe SPEED buttons.To stop
the programmomentarily,press the STOP button
once.All displayswillpause andthe INCLINE/TIME
displaywillbeginto flash. To restartthe program,
pressthe START button.To end the programbe-
fore itiscompleted, holddownthe STOP buttonfor
two seconds.The console willthen be inthe same
state as ifthe key had just been inserted.
While the inclineprogram is in progress,the diffi-
cultylevel ofthe programcan be adjusted,if de-
sired,with the INCLINE buttons.Pressthe INCLINE
%" buttononce.The letters"MAX" will appear in the
LED matrix,and the INCLINE/TIME displaywill
showthe maximum inclinethat the treadmillwill
reach duringthe program.This informationwillbe
displayedfor three seconds. Press the INCLINE "+"
buttonagain. Eachtime the buttonispressed,the
maximum inclinesettingand all other settingsof the
programwill increase slightly.The INCLINE "-" but-
ton can be used in thesame way to decrease the
difficultylevel ofthe program. Note: The profile
shownin the LED matrixwillnotchange;the profile
shows relativeinclinesettings.
