In addition to the heat of solution from the formation of acid, they also take into con-
sideration the percentage of ash and, depending on the carbon calculation mode
selected, calculate the percentage of water from the moisture level of the sample
and the percentage of volatile components.
Meaning of the parameters used:
4([WUDQ Extraneous energy from combustion of the cotton thread or
other ignition aid; 70 J is automatically taken into account for
the electrical ignition energy.
4([WUDQ Extraneous energy from the burning of additional combustion
aids.
+ 2(ODQD The percentage of combustion water in the sample
6XOIXUDQ The percentage of sulfur
1LWURJHQDQ The percentage of nitrogen
+\GURJHQDQ The percentage of hydrogen water in the combustion sample
%D2+ The titrated quantity of 0.1 N barium hydroxide solution (titra-
tion of distilled water with which the decomposition vessel was
washed out after the experiment)
1D &2 The quantity of sodium carbonate solution (in accordance with
DIN 20 ml 0.05 N) added in the decomposition vessel
+&O The titrated quantity of 0.1 N hydrochloric acid (titration of dis-
tilled water with which the decomposition vessel was washed
out after the experiment)
1D2+ The titrated quantity in ml (0.0866 N)
6XUIPRLVWXUHUDZ The percentage of water from the approximate moisture
$VKDQ The percentage of ash
+\JUPRLVWXUHDQ The percentage of water from the hygroscopic moisture
9RODWLOHVUDZ The percentage of volatile components
