7 Care and Maintenance
If the decomposition system is handled properly, only the seals of the decomposition
vessel, oxygen filling station, and venting station require maintenance. All these
units have O-ring seals. These are subject to wear and must be replaced when
leakage occurs. The necessary O-rings are available in sets for each component.
Before every decomposition test, it is absolutely essential to make a visual inspec-
tion of all parts of the decomposition vessel. If there are signs of corrosion, me-
chanical damage, loose electrodes, or consumption of the ignition wire, tests must
not be carried out.
For maintenance of the decomposition vessel, see the AOD 1.1 Operating In-
structions!

Notes
Electrical equipment must not be immersed in a cleaning agent.
We recommend the wearing of protective gloves during cleaning.
The operating authority is responsible for ensuring that appropriate decontamination
measures are taken if hazardous materials are spilt on or in the instrument.
Before using any method for cleaning or decontamination other than those recom-
mended by the manufacturer, consult the manufacturer to make sure that the in-
tended method will not damage the instrument.
When replacing the mains cable, use a product of equivalent quality and perform-
ance.
