74. THE WHISPERING QUEEN
The Queen of Hearts whispers to you the name of two cards taken from the deck!
SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards
THE SECRET: As you look through the deck to find the Queen of Hearts, you glance at and remember the
two cards next to the bottom card of the deck. These are the two cards that you will name.
SECRET SETUP: Memorize the two cards next to the bottom card of the deck as you locate the Queen of
Hearts.
SHOW:
1. Lay the Queen on the table, and have someone cut the deck in two heaps.
2. Ask the volunteer to count the lower half of the deck. When this is done the bottom card will be on top
and the next two cards will be the ones you memorized.
3. Have the volunteer place the top and bottom card of this pile into the middle of the pile. Tell the
same volunteer to place the next card on top of this pile into his pocket. (This card is one of the two you
memorized.)
4. Ask another volunteer to place the next card into his pocket. (This card is the other card you
memorized.)
5. Tell one of the volunteers to touch the Queen with his card. Now take the Queen and hold it to your ear.
Say, “She’s whispering the name of the card to me.” Then name the card.
6. Repeat Step 5 with the other card!
75. MAGIC KEY CARD
Know a chosen card put back in the deck without even seeing it!
SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards
THE SECRET : You memorize the bottom card in the deck, it will be put on top of the chosen card so that
you can easily locate the chosen card.
SHOW:
1. Separate the deck into four or five piles remembering which pile was on the bottom of the deck.
2. Ask a volunteer to look at any top card and replace it without anyone seeing it.
3. Take the pile containing the key card and place it on top of the pile containing the top card the volunteer
chose. Add the other piles in any order.
4. Remember that the chosen card is now next to the key card. The deck may be cut several times without
fear of separating these two cards.
5. Fan through the deck face up until you come to the key card. The chosen card will be next to it on the
right side!
76. THE JOKER
From eight cards randomly chosen, the remaining card will be the Joker.
SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards
THE SECRET: You memorize where the Joker is located and make sure
that card always stays when the other cards are removed.
SECRET SETUP: Arrange eight cards, including the Joker, face down in
pairs to form two crosses. Remember which card is the Joker.
SHOW:
1. Have a volunteer choose one of the crosses. If it’s the one with the Joker in it, remove the other cross. If
it doesn’t have the Joker in it, remove the chosen cross.
2. Have a volunteer choose two cards in the remaining cross. If one of the two cards is the Joker, remove
the remaining two cards. If neither card is the Joker, remove the chosen two cards.
3. Tell the volunteer to choose one of the two remaining cards. If the chosen card is the Joker, remove the
other card. If the chosen card isn’t the Joker, remove the card.
4. Then turn over the remaining card to reveal the Joker!
