46. ALL FACES
With the deck behind your back, magically bring forth all the face cards in the deck!
PROPS USED: Mystery Deck
THE SECRET: When the deck is behind your back, you “strip out” all the face cards and show them one by
one to the audience.
SECRET SETUP: Remove all the face cards from the deck and then place them on top of the deck in the
opposite direction from the other cards in the deck. Overhand shuffle the deck to randomly distribute them
throughout the deck.
SHOW:
1. Fan out the deck to show that the cards are mixed. Place the deck behind your back and “strip out” the
face cards one by one and show them to the audience. Continue until all twelve are revealed.
2. After the last picture card is produced, show the audience the deck by spreading it face up so that they
can see that all the face cards are missing!
47. THE LONE STRANGER
Magically separate the deck into two piles of all red cards and all black cards. A chosen card put back in
the deck mysteriously ends up with the cards of the opposite color!
PROPS USED: Mystery Deck
THE SECRET: The deck is separated into red and black cards by “stripping out” the reds. The chosen card
is “stripped out” and placed with the cards of the opposite color.
SECRET SETUP: Take out all the red cards and return them to the deck in the opposite direction from the
other cards so that they will be easy to “strip out.” Mix them up in the deck.
SHOW:
1. Fan out the deck to show that the cards are mixed. Have a volunteer select a card and show it to the
audience but not you. Turn the deck so that the end of the deck that was furthest from you is now closest
to you. Have the volunteer return the card to the deck. Overhand shuffle the deck.
2. Cut the deck as many times as you need to “strip out” the red cards so that they are separated from the
black ones.
3. Cut the deck into two equal piles, one black and one red. Say, “You will find the card you chose in an
unusual spot in the deck.”
4. Turn over the two piles revealing the black cards in one pile and the red cards in another pile. The only
card not with its matching color will be the chosen card. It will magically be with the opposite color!
48. VANISHING JACKS
Magically all the Jacks vanish from the deck!
PROPS USED: Mystery Deck
THE SECRET: The Jacks are “stripped out” of the deck and put in your back pocket while the deck is
behind your back.
SHOW:
1. Begin with the narrow ends of the cards furthest from you. Remove the four Jacks from the deck and
place them on the table.
2. Turn the deck so that the narrow ends are closest to you. Place the Jacks into different parts of the
deck.
The wide ends of the Jacks will protrude from the narrow ends of the rest of the deck. Ask a volunteer to
overhand shuffle the deck.
3. Cut the cards by “stripping out” the Jacks and bringing them to the top of the deck. Place the deck
behind your back. Remove the Jacks from the top of the deck and put them into your back pocket.
4. Then hand the deck to someone in the audience. Ask her to remove the Jacks. When she discovers that
the Jacks are mysteriously missing, show her that your hands are empty!
