28. BALANCING CARD

A playing card standing up with its face to the audience is balanced on the back of your hand!

PROPS USED: Thumb Tip, Double-Sided Tape, Playing Card

THE SECRET: The back of the card is attached to the thumb tip.

SECRET SETUP: Attach a piece of double-sided tape to the bottom of the ﬁngerprint side of the thumb tip.

SHOW:

1. Tell your audience you will magically balance a playing card on the back

of your hand.

2. Show the face of the card with the hand without the thumb tip, grasp the

card with both hands, then press the bottom back end of the card on the

thumb tip. Be sure the bottom of the tip is even with the bottom of the card.

3. With the opposite hand, take the card and thumb tip and balance it on the

back of the other hand. See FIGURE 1.

4. Remove the card and thumb tip by sliding your thumb into the thumb tip.

Pull the card away.

29. CUT AND RESTORE TISSUE

The center of a tissue is cut and then found restored

PROPS USED: Thumb Tip

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Two tissues, scissors

THE SECRET: There are really two tissues – one is cut and then hidden in thumb tip.

SECRET SETUP: Grasp the center of one tissue and cut about two inches down. Push the cut portion into

the thumb tip leaving it slightly extended so it can be removed easily. Push the tip over your thumb.

SHOW:

1. Show the full tissue to the audience. With your hand and the thumb tip, grasp it from the center keeping

your thumb tip behind the tissue.

2. Wrap the opposite hand around the tissue and thumb tip. Remove your thumb, pulling some of the cut

tissue from the tip. The cut tissue appears to be the center of the uncut one.

3. Ask a volunteer to cut the top of the already cut tissue extended from the thumb tip.

30. CHANGING PLACES

Make the cup and juice can magically change places!

PROPS USED: 2 Blue Tubes, 2 Juice Cans, 2 Clear Cups

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Juice or any colored liquid

THE SECRET: There are actually two bottomless juice cans. There's a cup inside each can. When the tubes

are placed over each can, by applying or releasing pressure, you can show either the cup or the can so it

looks like the two have changed places.

SECRET SETUP: This trick takes practice, and can make a mess if done wrong. Practice these maneuvers

before performing the trick:

1. Fill each cup half full of juice.

2. Put the cup on the table and cover it with one of the bottomless juice cans. Then place one of the blue

tubes over the can. Apply gentle pressure and lift up the tube. The can will come up with the tube and the

cup will be the only thing left on the table. See FIGURE 1.

2. Put the can and tube back over the cup. Lift the tube, but this time do not apply any pressure. Only the

can will be visible.

3. Put the tube back over the can. Then apply enough pressure to lift up the can when the tube is removed.

It will look like the can has disappeared.

4. Place one cup half full of liquid on the left side of the table. Put a can next to it. Cover the can with the

blue tube. See FIGURE 2. Place the cup half full of liquid on the right side of the table. Cover the cup with

the other can. Place the second tube next to the cup and can. See FIGURE 3.
