SECRET SETUP: This trick takes practice. Practice holding the paddle by the stem, between your thumb
and fingers. Your hand should be palm-side up. Practice flipping the paddle with your thumb and fingers
from the rabbit side to the blank side and back again. See FIGURES 1 & 2. This is a classic magic
technique called the “Paddle Move.”
SHOW:
1. Show the rabbit side of the paddle to your audience.
2. Hold the paddle by the stem, between you thumb and fingers. Your hand should be palm-side up, held at
waist level.
3. Swing your arm upward. As you do this turn your wrist over so you are looking at the back of your hand.
Halfway through this move, flip the paddle between you fingers and thumb. See FIGURE 3.
4. Swing your arm back down, repeating this move. When done quickly, it will look like there is a rabbit on
both sides of the paddle.
5. After you swing your arm down again, wave your hand over the paddle. As you do this, flip the paddle to
the blank side.
6. When you remove your hand, it will look like the rabbit vanished!
TIP: Practice in front of a mirror until you can fool yourself!

17. SPOT CARD
Watch the number of spots on the cards magically change before your eyes!
PROPS USED: Spot Card
THE SECRET: You hide spots with your fingers as you flip and turn the card.
SECRET SETUP: Practice the position of your hands and the movement of the card until you feel
comfortable performing the trick.
SHOW:
1. Hold the card with two fingers at the bottom. The two spots should be facing the audience.
See FIGURE 1. Say, “See the three spots on this side.”
2. With you left hand, flip the card up and over. Make sure your fingers are covering the middle spot to that
only four spots are showing. Say, “And the four on this side.” See FIGURE 2.
3. Take the card in your right hand again so that your fingers are covering the bottom spot on the two-spot
side. Turn the card around to face the audience. Say, “Now, there’s only one on this side.” See FIGURE 3.
4. Flip the card up and over with your left hand, holding it with your fingers in the empty space. Say, “ And
now this side has six.” See FIGURE 4.
5. Say, “It’s easy to do! Let me show you again!” Repeat Steps 1-4 again more quickly for your audience.
