6. DICE ESCAPE
A die is placed inside the jail box, then instantly vanishes. It then reappears somewhere else.
PROPS USED: Dice Escape Jail Box, Full Die and Die Shell, Magic Hat
THE SECRET: The secret die shell (with missing
sides) fits over the full die, making it look like one
solid die. The shell also fits into the jail box in a
way that makes it appear empty. You use the shell
create the illusion that you are moving the full die.
SECRET SETUP:
Before your trick, place the die shell over the full
die, as in FIGURE 1. It will now look like only 1
die, as shown in FIGURE 2.
SHOW:

FIGURE 4: Place the die (with
secret shell) into a hat.
FIGURE 5: Open the jail box
and show the audience that it
is empty.
TIP: Make sure the audience cannot see down into the hat! You can even have a spectator hold the hat up.

FIGURE 6 & 6.1: Reach into the hat and remove the
die shell only. Make sure that the missing sides of
the shell are NOT facing the audience.
FIGURE 7 & 7.1: Insert the die shell into the jail box
and close the door. Make sure the sides with the
bars are facing you.

the air. Catch it and show the
audience that the jail box is
now empty.

and place your fingers inside to
show it’s empty.
FIGURE 9: Now remove the
die from the hat. Say, “The die
disappeared from the jail and
jumped back into the hat!”
