USING YOUR TRANSFORMING SUITCASE Your magic suitcase is no ordinary box – it transforms into a table to use in your magic show! Transform it before starting your performance. Once assembled, the table should hide your props from the audience while providing easy access for you as you perform. Then when the show is over, transform it back into a box for storage or travel. TRICKS 1. CANDY FROM MAGIC DRAWER BOX Make candy magically appear! PROPS USED: Magic Drawer Box SUPPLIES NEEDED: Candy THE SECRET: Your audience doesn’t know there are really two drawers. That's your magical secret. SECRET SET-UP: Before you begin performing, practice using the magic drawer box with its two drawers. When you insert your finger into the secret hole on the bottom, you show drawer #1. Remove your finger and open drawer #2. Remember to hide candy in drawer #2.
While your back is turned, ask the person to place the closed box into your hands. Keep the box behind your back and turn to face the audience. While holding the box behind your back, remove the lid and place it on the side of the color cube (see FIGURES 1 & 2). 3. Now bring the box in front of you, keeping the open side facing you. Tell the person who is helping with the trick that you need help again. Say, "Think very hard of the color that's facing up.
Start by making the first ball pass through the cups. FIGURE 2: Show the audience the 3 balls while holding the stacked cups in your hand. 2 3.1 3.2 3.3 FIGURE 3.1, 3.2, 3.3: One by one, place each cup on the table. When placing the middle cup on the table, make sure that the ball doesn’t fall out. As you turn the cup over, perform the move swiftly and the ball will remain under the cup. 4 FIGURE 4: Place the 1st ball on top of the middle cup (the cup that has the secret ball under it.

6. DICE ESCAPE A die is placed inside the jail box, then instantly vanishes. It then reappears somewhere else. PROPS USED: Dice Escape Jail Box, Full Die and Die Shell, Magic Hat THE SECRET: The secret die shell (with missing sides) fits over the full die, making it look like one solid die. The shell also fits into the jail box in a way that makes it appear empty. You use the shell create the illusion that you are moving the full die.
7. MULTIPLYING RABBITS Watch two rabbits multiply into six! PROPS USED: All 6 Multiplying Rabbits THE SECRET: You put more rabbits in a person’s hand than he or she thinks. 2 SECRET SETUP: Push out the rabbits from the foam piece. Put 1 the four baby rabbits into your pocket. Place the two large rabbits (mama and papa) on the table. SHOW: 1. Ask for a volunteer to help you do this trick. Point to the mama and the papa rabbit on the table. 2. With your right hand, pick up one of the rabbits.
9. RABBIT RINGS The rabbit token disappears, then reappears on the mat. PROPS USED: Rabbit Ring, False-Bottom Ring, Ring Mat, Rabbit Token, any Playing Card THE SECRET: One of the rings has a false bottom that exactly matches the mat. This false bottom hides the rabbit token, but cannot be seen by the audience. SECRET SETUP: Place both rings on the ring mat in front of you. Keep the false-bottom ring on the right side of the mat. See FIGURE 1. THE SHOW: 1.
11. NUMBER MYSTERY Read someone’s mind by guessing the number they are thinking of! PROPS USED: 6 Number Cards SUPPLIES NEEDED: Paper and pencil THE SECRET: Adding the numbers in the top left-hand corner box on selected cards will give you the number the person is thinking of. SHOW: 1. Now you get to show your math wizardry! Ask a volunteer from the audience to think of a number from 1 to 63 and write it on a piece of paper. Tell the volunteer to show the number to the audience but not to you. 2.
13. SUPER QUARTER TRICK Put quarters in a closed box and they mysteriously end up in your hand! PROPS USED: Coin Container & Lid SUPPLIES NEEDED: 2 to 4 quarters THE SECRET: You magically put the lid on the bottom of the box allowing the quarters to fall into your hand when you turn the box over. SHOW: 1. Place the open box on the table. Put the quarters in it. Lay the lid against the box as shown in FIGURE 1. Say, “ Watch what happens to these quarters!” 2. Pick up the box and lid in a special way.
. MULTIPLYING BALLS Two, three, and then four red balls magically appear between your fingertips in a mysterious way! PROPS USED: 3 Plastic Balls, Plastic Half-Ball THE SECRET: A half-ball shell is used, which looks like a whole ball when seen from one side. It hides another ball inside. SECRET SETUP: This trick takes a lot of practice! You need to learn the "basic move" before attempting the whole trick. Take one of the balls from your set and put it into the half shell.
SECRET SETUP: This trick takes practice. Practice holding the paddle by the stem, between your thumb and fingers. Your hand should be palm-side up. Practice flipping the paddle with your thumb and fingers from the rabbit side to the blank side and back again. See FIGURES 1 & 2. This is a classic magic technique called the “Paddle Move.” SHOW: 1. Show the rabbit side of the paddle to your audience. 2. Hold the paddle by the stem, between you thumb and fingers.
18. QUARTER TO DIME Place a playing card over a quarter, and it magically changes into a dime! PROPS USED: Double-Sided Tape, Playing Card (such as from Mystery Deck) SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 quarter and 1 dime SECRET SETUP: In secret, cut a small piece of double-sided tape, and fasten it to the center of the face of a playing card. Keep the card on the table face down. Also secretly place a dime on the table, and cover it with a quarter.
20. HANDKERCHIEF VANISHER A handkerchief pushed into your fist disappears! PROPS USED: Handkerchief Vanisher SUPPLIES NEEDED: Jacket, safety pin, handkerchief THE SECRET: A hidden vanisher with the handkerchief inside it springs back to a hiding place under your jacket. SECRET SETUP: With adult supervision, tie a safety pin to the end of the elastic cord on the handkerchief vanisher. See FIGURE 1. Pin the safety pin to the inside of your jacket near the shoulder. Put on your jacket.
SECRET SETUP: Assemble and attach the vanisher to your jacket as in the Secret Setup of the Handkerchief Vanisher trick. Start your performance with the Vanisher secretly held in your closed hand. SHOW: 1. Hold the Vanisher in your fist and turn slightly to one side so that the back of your fist is facing the audience. This will help hide the vanisher. Make sure the elastic should be hidden as well (extending down your wrist and into your jacket/shirt). 2.

DIMES TO QUARTERS Five dimes change into two quarters! PROPS USED: Thumb Tip SUPPLIES NEEDED: 5 dimes, 2 quarters THE SECRET: The dimes are placed into the thumb tip palmed in your hand with the two quarters.
28. BALANCING CARD A playing card standing up with its face to the audience is balanced on the back of your hand! PROPS USED: Thumb Tip, Double-Sided Tape, Playing Card THE SECRET: The back of the card is attached to the thumb tip. SECRET SETUP: Attach a piece of double-sided tape to the bottom of the fingerprint side of the thumb tip. SHOW: 1. Tell your audience you will magically balance a playing card on the back of your hand. 2.
1 2 3 SHOW: 1. Show the audience that the tube on the right side of the table is empty by grasping it in your hand and tilting it toward the audience. 2. Next, lift the can to show the audience. Move your fingers under the can to hold the cup as you pick up the can. Tilt it toward the audience so that they don't see the missing bottom of the can or the cup. 3. Show the audience the cup half full of liquid on the left side of the table.
other end of the thread. Pin it to the inside of the waistband on your pants. Place the wand into one of your jacket or pants pockets. SHOW: 1. Put the wand in the vase (or bottle) with the thread end facing down. 2. Pick up the vase and slowly move it away from you. As you do, the wand appears to rise from the bottle! 33. MAGNETIZED WAND Your wand magically sticks to your hand! PROPS USED: Magic Wand THE SECRET: You secretly hold the wand with a hidden finger. SHOW: 1. Show the wand to the audience.
35. APPEARING MAGIC HAT Show there is nothing on either side of the handkerchief, but then the magic hat appears from nowhere! PROPS USED: Magic Hat SUPPLIES NEEDED: Jacket, large handkerchief or cloth THE SECRET: The magic hat is hidden in your jacket. When you show the back side of the handkerchief, your fingers reach into your jacket and pull out the magic hat. SECRET SETUP: 1. Wear a jacket. 2. Place the handkerchief into your pocket. 3. Flatten the magic hat and place inside your jacket.
Place the other handkerchief in your pocket. Take hold of the plastic handkerchief vanisher. Position your hand so that the audience cannot see the vanisher, keeping your fist loose. SHOW: 1. Hold the hand that is hiding the handkerchief vanisher in a natural bent position. See FIGURES 3 & 3.1. 2. With your other hand, show the inside of the magic hat to the audience. Place the hat onto the table. 3. With your free hand, remove the handkerchief from your pocket and place it over your fist.
Once the magic hat is in place, remove the quarter from your pocket and show it to the audience. Place one hand on the rim of the magic hat. With your other hand, hold the quarter above the opening of the hat. See FIGURE 4. 6. Drop the quarter into the magic hat. As the quarter passes into the hat, smoothly remove the hat with your other hand. This will cause the secret quarter to drop into the cup. If timed correctly, it will seem like the quarter traveled right through the hat without stopping.
MYSTERY DECK CARD TRICKS HOW THE MYSTERY DECK WORKS The secret is all in the setup of the deck. Read this carefully and make sure your cards are always in order. All of the cards are tapered at one end; that is, one end of the deck is slightly narrower than the other. See FIGURE 1. If any card is turned in the opposite direction, if can be found instantly because its wide end sticks out among the narrow ends.
IF YOUR CARDS GET MIXED UP In order to perform tricks with the Mystery Deck, all the cards should be kept aligned the same way – all narrow sides facing one way, and all wide sides facing the other. However sometimes they might get mixed up, such as if they get accidentally shuffled or fall on the floor. If this happens, don't worry! TO REALIGN THE DECK, it's easiest to sort the cards by "stripping them out" just like in the tricks: 1. Hold the deck in one hand in front of you.
Start with the narrow ends of the deck furthest away from you. Remove the aces from the deck. Put them back again in the opposite direction from the other cards and in different places in the deck. Have someone overhand shuffle cards. 2. Take the deck and turn it so that the narrow ends are now closest to you. With the thumb and fingers of each hand, grasp the cards by the edges and “strip out” the aces. Bring them to the top of the deck as though you were cutting the cards. 3.
SHOW: 1. Start the trick with the narrow end of the cards furthest from you. Cut the deck into two piles, as close to equal as possible. 2. Turn the pile on your right face up. When doing this, don’t just turn the cards over but turn them so that the narrow ends are now closest to you. That way the face up cards will have their wide ends among the narrow ends of the face down cards. 3. Take the face up pile and riffle shuffle it into the face down pile.
46. ALL FACES With the deck behind your back, magically bring forth all the face cards in the deck! PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: When the deck is behind your back, you “strip out” all the face cards and show them one by one to the audience. SECRET SETUP: Remove all the face cards from the deck and then place them on top of the deck in the opposite direction from the other cards in the deck. Overhand shuffle the deck to randomly distribute them throughout the deck. SHOW: 1.
49. THE POKER HAND After showing that the deck is perfectly mixed, you mysteriously reveal that the top five cards are a perfect royal flush! PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: You “strip out” the Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of Spades and bring them to the top. SECRET SETUP: Holding the deck with the narrow ends furthest away from you, remove the Ace, King,Queen, Jack and Ten of Spades.
52. BIRDS OF A FEATHER Two chosen cards side-by-side in the deck are placed back in different places separate from each other, but they are mysteriously reunited! PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: The two chosen cards ore “stripped out” of the deck and put together again somewhere in the deck. SHOW: 1. Start with the narrow ends of the deck furthest from you. Have a volunteer select two cards that are together in the deck and show them to the audience but not to you.
55. CARD FOUND BY A NAME A volunteer selects a card and shuffles it back into the deck. After spelling out the volunteer’s name by dealing a card for every letter, the selected card is the next card in the deck! PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: The selected card is stripped from the deck and placed on top. Then the same number of cards as letters in the volunteer’s name are pulled from the bottom of the deck and placed on top of the selected card. SHOW: 1.
58. RED OR BLACK With the shuffled deck behind the magician’s back, the magician can produce any number of red or black cards requested by a volunteer. PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: The cards are divided by color and stacked in opposite directions. After overhand shuffling, they are “stripped” behind the magician’s back, separating the cards by color. SECRET SETUP: Separate the cards by color, stack in opposite directions and overhand shuffle the deck. SHOW: 1.
61. RED AND BLACK SEPARATION The shuffled deck is cut into two piles one black, one red. PROPS USED: Mystery Deck THE SECRET: The black and red cards are turned in opposite directions. SECRET SETUP: Divide the deck into two piles-one red and one black. Turn one pile with narrow ends in one direction and the other pile in the opposite direction. SHOW: 1. Overhand shuffle the deck. Show the mixed cards to the audience. 2. Place the deck face down on the table.
CARD MAGIC WITH A REGULAR DECK Here are some great card tricks you can perform anywhere. They all use a regular deck of playing cards. You can also use your Mystery Deck included in this set for most of these tricks. 63. 4 CARDS & POCKET Name the card your audience selects. SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards THE SECRET: The three cards hidden in your pocket allow you to “count” to the card your audience selected. SHOW: 1. Before you begin, secretly hide three cards in your pocket. 2.
FIGURE 2, the aces stay on top of the deck and the four extra cards get split up! SECRET SETUP: Before your audience arrives, secretly palm four cards in your favored hand, as shown in FIGURE 2. Keep that hand face down, as in FIGURE 1, so no one will ever know you’ve got cards hidden! Or, if you feel more comfortable, palm the cards in Step 2, while the 2 1 volunteer is working with the deck. SHOW: 1. Pull all four aces out of the deck.
68. STOP-N-GO When the audience says stop you are automatically at the preselected card. SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards with Joker Locator Card (see Joker Card Locator Trick, page 37) THE SECRET: The Joker Locator Card stops at the preselected card, just like in the Joker Card Locator Trick, and you control the speed of the ruffling so it appears to stop when your audience says so. SHOW: 1.
71. THE THREE BURGLARS Three jacks (the burglars) put in different places in a deck end up together each guarded by a King (the detective)! SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards THE SECRET: Before beginning the trick, you secretly place a Jack between two Kings at the bottom of the deck. As you perform the trick, you place a Jack at the top and bottom of the deck and a King at the top. When you cut the deck the three Jacks and three Kings come together.
74. THE WHISPERING QUEEN The Queen of Hearts whispers to you the name of two cards taken from the deck! SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards THE SECRET: As you look through the deck to find the Queen of Hearts, you glance at and remember the two cards next to the bottom card of the deck. These are the two cards that you will name. SECRET SETUP: Memorize the two cards next to the bottom card of the deck as you locate the Queen of Hearts. SHOW: 1.
77. SPELLING THE CARDS Spell out the name of each card in a suit by taking one card off the top of the deck and putting it on the bottom for each letter in the name. Then turn over the next card to magically reveal the card whose name you spelled out! SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards THE SECRET: You use thirteen cards arranged in a certain order. SECRET SETUP: Arrange thirteen cards of any suit in the following order from top down: 3, 8, 7, Ace, Queen, 6, 4, 2, Jack, King, 10, 9, and 5. SHOW: 1.
80. CALLING THE CARDS Name the card on each of the three piles without first looking at the card! SUPPLIES NEEDED: Deck of playing cards THE SECRET: You secretly glance at the card on top of the deck when you shuffle it face up. You name that card as the top card on the first pile. Then look at the actual top card and secretly note what the card actually is. You then name that card for the top card of the second pile and secretly note the actual card. Name that card as the top card on the third pile.
TRICKS WITH EVERYDAY ITEMS 83. MAKE IT JUMP You make a rubber band jump magically from one pair of fingers to another. SUPPLIES NEEDED: Rubber band SECRET SETUP: Place a rubber band around your first two fingers as shown in the first picture. Now curl your fingers in and secretly put the band over the tips of the fingers as shown in picture two. SHOW: To make the band jump, just straighten out your fingers as in the third picture. When you do the same thing in reverse, the band can be made to jump back.
87. VANISHING COIN SUPPLIES NEEDED: Any coin SHOW: Show a coin, and then rub it on your left sleeve several times. Drop it, as if by accident. Reach for it with your right hand, pretending to pick it up, but actually pick it up with your left hand. Now continue the rubbing with the right hand, then open your right hand and show the coin vanished. 88. KNOT IN A HANDKERCHIEF SUPPLIES NEEDED: Handkerchief SHOW: Challenge your friends to try to tie a knot in a handkerchief without letting go of the ends.
91. THE VANISHING PENCIL Show a quarter and say you will make it disappear by waving a pencil over it like a magic wand. But when the magic happens, the pencil disappears instead! SUPPLIES NEEDED: Pencil (or pen) and a quarter. SHOW: 1. Hold the pencil in your right hand with your thumb and first two fingers. 2. Place the quarter in your left palm. Have your spectators stand on your left side. Hold your left hand out in front of you and use your right hand to tap the pencil against the quarter. 3.
95. FINDING MONEY IN A BREAD ROLL Volunteer magically finds money in a bread roll. SUPPLIES NEEDED: Any coin, bread roll SHOW: Have a quarter hidden in your hand. Ask a friend to hand you a bread roll from the table. With one hand on each end or side of the roll, bend it upward at the same time pushing the coin through the broken bottom of the roll. Now turn the top toward the group, break it open and they will see the coin on the inside of the roll. This trick is a big surprise and good magic! 96.
