ADDITIONAL TRICKS
THE ACROBATIC CARDS
EFFECT: Two cards are removed and then placed in
dierent parts of the deck. With a snap of the ngers
the two cards are found back in the magician’s hand!
SUPPLIES: A deck of playing cards.
SECRET: To prepare, you’ll need to get two pairs of
cards. Find the Six of Clubs, the Six of Spades, the
Nine of Clubs, and the Nine of Spades. Place the Six
of Clubs on the top of the deck and place the Nine of
Spades on the bottom. Now you’re ready to perform!
Show the audience the Six of Spades and the Nine
of Clubs. Hold them casually in your hand as you tell
the audience that you have a six and a nine. Do not
call attention to their suits. Turn the two cards back
face down and then place them into dierent parts of
the face down deck. Show the audience that they are
really being pushed into dierent parts of the deck.
Now, hold the deck with your right ngers on the
bottom and thumb on top (like a sandwich.) Apply
a little pressure and lightly toss the deck from your
right hand to your left. The top and bottom cards will
remain in your right hand, and the rest of the deck
will travel over to your left hand. Turn over the two
cards in your right hand to show that the acrobatic
Nine and Six have returned!
CARD ON CEILING
EFFECT : A spectator selects, signs and returns a card
to the deck. The deck is then shued and the card
that they signed, sticks to the ceiling while the others
fall.
PREPARATION: You will need a pen, cards and a
piece of magicians wax or sticky tape that has been
rolled in a loop with the sticky side facing out. (This
should be looped around your nger or under the
table).
METHOD: Have a spectator choose a card which is
then, using your own favorite method, returned to
the deck and shued to the top. With the spectator’s
card face down on top of the pack, you can either slip
the double sided sticky tape o your nger and on to
the back of their card or stick a small piece of
magician’s wax to it. Then toss the pack hard at the
ceiling, keeping it parallel. The spectator’s card should
stick and the rest of the pack will fall. This trick is very
impressive.
COOL CARD GUESS
EFFECT: The spectator is shown a fanned out set of
cards and asked to pick one and concentrate on that
card. The chosen card is not revealed by the spectator.
The magician appears to read the spectator’s mind
and pulls out or even tears up the spectators secretly
chosen card.
PREPARATION: For this trick you’ll need two sets of
cards, each with ve cards. ( The cards should be ve
dierent cards, but should resemble each other (for
instance, if you had a Jack of Spades in one, use a Jack
of clubs in the other.) ie..SET ONE
METHOD: Hide the second set of ve cards, but keep
them somewhere close, so that you can secretly
switch them with the other set of ve cards. Now, fan
out the ve cards. Tell the spectator to remember and
concentrate on one of the cards. Now, as you collect
the cards, you’ll need to switch between the two sets.
Now spread out the second set of cards on the table,
face down.
Use some play acting and appear to be concentrating
deeply as if reading the spectator’s thoughts. Place a
nger on one of the spread out cards and slide it out
from the rest of the cards. The nishing move is up to
you, you have two choices:
1. Turn over the remaining four cards to show that the
spectator’s card has been removed.
