ADDITIONAL TRICKS
nding the rst face down card in the deck.
Starting at the top of the deck, fan through until you
nd the rst face down card ( this is actually the pre-
diction card, which was on top of the deck at the start
of the trick.) Show the card and ask the spectator to
open the prediction. Viola!
MENTAL CRAYONS
EFFECT: A volunteer is given a bunch of crayons and
asked to think of one. Turn around and asks that the
selected crayon be placed into your cupped hands.
The rest of the crayons are hidden from view and
placed into the volunteer’s pocket. Without bringing
the crayon from behind your back, correctly name
which crayon was selected!
SUPPLIES: 4-5 crayons* of dierent colors
SECRET: Make sure the crayons you use are all very
dierent colors. Ask a spectator to place one of the
crayons in your hands behind your back and then
hide the others so you can’t see them. Turn around
and face the spectator and tell him/her that you will
attempt to read their mind. As you say this, scrape a
small bit of crayon o onto the nail of your thumb.
You can now bring this hand in front of your body and
casually glance at your thumb to determine which
crayon is behind your back. All you need to do is
hold up your hand so that it’s between you and your
spectator. It’ll look to your audience as though you’re
looking at the spectator, but you’re really looking at
your thumbnail. It’s all acting!
SMILING GEORGE
EFFECT: Show a $1 dollar bill and explains how
George Washington actually had wooden teeth,
which is why he never smiled in photos. However,
as you show your spectator the bill he magically puts
on a smile!
SUPPLIES: A $1 dollar bill*
SECRET: Before you perform, take the bill and fold
it face inward so that it folds right in the middle of
George’s mouth. Unfold the bill but let the crease re-
main. Now, if you look at George straight-on, it looks
THE BROKEN & RESTORED TOOTHPICK
EFFECT: A toothpick is wrapped up in a napkin. A
spectator is then asked to grab the toothpick through
the napkin and break it in half. The magician waves
his hands over the napkin and when it’s opened…
the toothpick is back in one piece!
SUPPLIES: A cloth napkin* and two wooden
toothpicks*.
SECRET: To prepare this trick, you’ll need to secretly
hide a duplicate toothpick into the hem of the cloth
napkin.
Now you’re ready to perform. Show the napkin on
both sides and place the toothpick in the center.
You’ll now take each corner of the napkin and fold
it inwards one at a time. Grab the corner with the
hidden toothpick rst or second. When you grab the
corner with the hidden toothpick, make sure you
remember where the hidden toothpick is placed.
Now the other corners go on top. Reach through the
napkin and nd the corner with the hidden toothpick.
Ask the spectator to feel it through the napkin and
then break it into pieces. Place the napkin back on
the table and make a magical gesture over it. When
you open the napkin up, the toothpick will still be
sitting there in the middle, completely unharmed!

like he’s not smiling. But, if you tilt the bill upwards
and look at it from below, it looks like he smiles!
