MAGIC PAINT CAN
MAGIC PAINT CAN-DISAPPEARING WATER
Take a look inside the paint can and you’ll see that
there is a secret chamber. This is where the water
will be hidden. When placing the label on the paint
can, you may want to align the label so that the front
of the label is at the secret chamber. This way, you’ll
always know which way the chamber is facing just by
looking at the label.
To perform, ll a glass with water. (Not too much, as
the secret chamber will only hold about a quarter cup
of liquid).
Show the audience the glass of water and the paint
can. Hold the can in your
right hand with the secret
compartment on the left side
(see FIGURE 1). Your thumb
should be on the left side and
your ngers on the right side.
Turn the can upside down to
show that it’s empty. Care-
fully pour the water into the can.
Wave your hand over the can and say your favorite
magic words. Tell your audience that the water has
vanished! They won’t believe you, so then oer to
prove it…carefully turn the can upside down so that
the water moves into the secret compartment (see
FIGURE 2). The water is gone!
To make the water re-appear, place the can on a
table and turn it around three times (each turn is 180
degrees and this will place the secret compartment
on the right side
after three turns).
Pick up the can
with your right
hand and pour
the water into
the glass from
the left side (see
FIGURE 2). The
water has magi-
cally returned!

For this magical feat you’ll need some food coloring*.
Any color will work. To prepare, put three or four
drops of food coloring into the can. Now hide the
bottle so your audience doesn’t know what’s coming!
To perform, ll a glass with water. (Not too much, as
the secret chamber will only hold about a quarter cup
of liquid).
Show the audience the water and the can. Tell them
that your Magic Paint Can turns water into paint!
Hold the can in your right hand with the secret
compartment on the left side. Your thumb should
be on the left side and your ngers on the right side.
Turn the can upside down to show that it’s empty.
Carefully pour the water into the can.
Wave your hand over the can and say the magic
words, “Abracadabra!” Tell your audience that the
water has vanished! They won’t believe you, so then
oer to prove it…carefully turn the can upside down
so that the water moves into the secret compartment.
The water is gone!

words, “Presto Change-O!”
Pick up the can with your right hand and pour the
water into the glass from the left side. The water has
magically re-appeared, but now it’s turned into paint!
