Information
Amplifier Probe
The Amplifier Probe is designed to identify and trace wires or cables within a group without
damaging the insulation. It allows for pin point identification even in the most congested cable
bundles. Our unit can be used with any tone generator.
Features
n Works with any Tone Generator (62-160) to identify wires
n Volume control for increased sensitivity and adjustable to
suit work environment
n Recessed ON/OFF button prevents battery drain
n Battery low indicator
n 9 volt battery included
Description Cat. No.
Amplifier Probe 62-164
Tone Generator 62-160
Tone Generator
Use the IDEAL tone generator (62-160) to apply a tone signal to a
wire pair or single conductor, and trace with an amplifier probe
(IDEAL 62-164). When used with the amplifier probe, the tone
generator allows technicians to identify a wire within a bundle, at a
cross connect or at a remote end. It can be used on twisted pair,
coax, and de-energized AC wiring.
Features
n F-connector port for toning and tracing of coax cable
n Three different tones selected from front panel
n Tone can be added in any status – allows test sets without
monitor feature to pick up tone
n Separate Talk Battery status for increased voltage and power
for test sets
n Auto-OFF of tone after three hours to conserve battery life
n Constant tone amplitude over life of battery
n Two tone amplitude – normal and half
n No power draw in continuity status with leads open
n RJ jack allows use of modular cable or alligator clips
n Low battery LED indicates when to change battery
n 9 volt battery included
