IBM SPSS Modeler Overview
E Edit options.cfg, located in the /config directory of your SPSS Modeler installation directory. Edit
the temp_dire
ctory parameter in this fil e to rea d:
temp_directory, "C:/spss/servertemp"
.
E After doing this, you must restart the SPSS Modeler Serv er service. You can do this by clicking
the Services tab on your Windows Control Panel. Just stop the service and then start it to activate
the changes you made. Restarting the machine will also restart the service.
All temp files will now be written to this ne w directory.
Note: T he most co mmon error when you are attempting to do this is to use the wrong type of
slashes. Because of SPSS Modeler’s UNIX history, forward slashes are u sed.
Starting Multiple IBM SPSS Modeler Sessions
If you need to launch more tha n one IBM® SPSS® Modeler session at a time, you m ust make
some changes to your IBM® SPSS® Model er and Windows settings. For example, you may
need to do this if you have two separate server licenses a nd want to run two st r eams against two
different servers from the same client machine.
To enable multiple SP SS Modeler sessions:
E Click:
Start > [All] Programs > IBM SPSS Modeler15
E On the I B M SPSS Modeler15 shortcut ( the one w ith the icon), right-click and select Properties.
E In th e Target text box, add
-noshare
to the end of the string.
E In Windows Explorer, select:
Tools > Folder Options...
E On the File Types tab, select the SPSS Modeler Stream option and click Advanced.
E In the Edit File Type dialog box, s elect Open with SPSS Modeler an d c lick Edit.
E In the Application used to perform action text box, add
-noshare
before the -stream a rgument.
