Customizing IBM SPSS Modeler
Visual Notifications
The options in this gr oup are used to specify the behavior of the Outputs and Models tabs in the
managers pane at the top right of th e d is play when n ew items are generated. Select New Model or
New Output from the list to specify the behavior of the corresponding tab.
The f ollowing options are available for New Model:
Add model to stream. If selec ted (default) , adds a ne w model to the stream, as well as to the
Models tab, as soon as th e model is built. I n the stream, the model is shown with a link to the
modeling node from whi ch the model was created . If you uncheck this box, the model is added
only to the Models tab.
Replace previous model. If selected (default), overwrites an existing model fro m this stream in
the Models tab and on the stream canvas. If th is box is u nchecked, the model is ad ded to the
existing models on the tab and the canvas. Note that this setting is overridden by the model
replacement setting on a model lin k.
The f ollowing options are available for New Output:
Warn when outputs exceed [n]. Selec t whether to display a warning when the nu mber o f items
on t he Outputs tab exceeds a prespecified quantity. The default quantity is 20; however, you
can change this if needed.
The f ollow ing options are available in all cases:
Select tab. Choose whether to switch to the Outputs or Models tab when the cor r esponding object
is generated while the stream runs.
 Select Always to switch to the corres ponding tab in the managers pane.
 Select If generated by current stream to switch to the corresp onding tab only for objects
generated by the stream currently visible in the canvas.
 Select Never to restrict the softwa r e from switching to the corresponding tab to notify you of
generated outputs or mo dels.
Flash tab. Select whether to flash the Outputs or Models tab in the managers pan e when new
outputs or models h ave been generated.
 Select If not selected to flash th e corresponding tab (if not already s elected) whenever new
objects are genera ted in the managers pane.
 Select Never to restrict the software from flashing the corresp onding tab to notify you of
generated objects.
Scroll palette to make visible (New Model only). Selec t whether to automatically scroll the Models
tab in the man agers pane to make the most recent model visible.
 Select Always to enab le scrolling.
 Select If generated by current stream to scroll only for objects generated by the stream currently
visible in the canvas .
 Select Never to restrict the software from automatically scrolling the Models tab.
Open window (New Output only). Select whether to automatically open an output window upon
generation.
