Classes View
The Classes view in the project pane organizes your work in IBM® SPSS® Mod eler categorically
by the types of objects created. Saved obje cts c an be added to any of the following categories :
 Stream s
 Nodes
 Models
 Tables, graphs, reports
 Other (non-SPSS Modeler files, such as slide shows or white papers relevant to y our data
mining work)

Adding objects to the C lasses view also adds them to the default phase folder in the CRISP-DM
view.
Note: If the p roject pane is n ot v is ible in the window, click Project on the View menu.
Building a Project
A project is essentially a file containing references to all of the files that you associate with the
project. This means that pr oject items are saved b oth individually and as a reference in the project
file (.cpj). Because of this referential structure, note the following:
 Project items must first be saved individually before being added to a project. If an item is
unsaved, you will b e p r ompted to save it before adding it to the current project.
 Objects that are updated individually, such a s streams, are also updated in the project file .
 Manually moving or deleting objects (such as st r eams, nodes, and o utput objects) from the file
system will r ender links in the project file invalid.
Creating a New Project
New projects are easy to create in the I BM® SPSS® Mod eler window. You can either start
building one, if none is open , or you can close an exi sting projec t and start from scr atch.
