Storing a stream in the repository

Stream Deployment Options
The Deployment tab in the Stream Options dialog box allows yo u to specify options for deploying
the str eam. You can deploy either as a stream or as a scenario.
When you d eploy as a stream, you can open a nd modify the stream in the thin-client app lication
IBM® SPSS ® M odeler Advantage. The stream is stored in the repository as a le with the
extension .str.
Deploying as a scenario stores the stream in the rep ository as a le with the extension .scn. Doing
so also enables a stream to be used by Predictive Applications version 5.
Whether you deploy as a stream or as a scenario, you can take advantage of the additional
functionality available with IBM® SPSS ® Collaboration and Deploym ent Services, such as
multi-user access, automated scoring, model refresh, and Champion Challenger analysis.
From the Deployment tab, you can also preview the stream de scription tha t IBM® SPSS®
Modeler creates for the stream. For more information, see the topic Stream Descripti on s in
Chapter 5 on p. 74.
Note: To ensu r e consistent access to enterprise data, a stream that is d eployed as a scenario must
access its so urce data thro ugh IBM® SPSS® Collaboration and Deployment Services Enterprise
View, so in such a case the stream must include at least one Enterprise View source node within
each designated sc oring or modeling branch as ap plicable.
