Whenthelatestmaintenancedisketteandthesystemprogramservicediskettebecomeavailable,theywill

RestoringthefactorycontentsbyusingRecoveryDiscSet

Whentheharddiskdrive(HDD)orsolidstatedrive(SSD)isreplacedbecauseofafailure,noproduct

recoveryprogramisonthenewdrive.Inthiscase,youmustusetheRecoveryDiscSetforthecomputer.

OrdertheRecoveryDiscSetandthedriveatthesametimesothatyoucanrecoverthenewdrivewiththe

pre-installedsoftwarewhentheyarrive.Forinformationonwhichdiscstoorder,seeRecoverydiscs.

TherecoverydiscsetconsistsoftheuserinstructionsandthefollowingsetofDVDstorestorethecomputer

totheoriginalfactoryconguration.

OperatingSystemRecoveryDisc(onedisc)

ThisdiscrestorestheMicrosoft®Windowsoperatingsystem.Usethisdisctostarttherecoveryprocess.

ApplicationsandDriversRecoveryDisc(oneormorediscs)

Thisdiscrestoresthepreinstalledapplicationsanddriversonthecomputer.

SupplementalRecoveryDisc

Thisdisccontainsadditionalcontent,suchasupdatestothesoftwarethatwaspreinstalledonthecomputer.

NotallrecoverydiscsetscomewithaSupplementalRecoveryDisc.

Notes:

•YoumusthaveaDVDdrivetousetherecoverydiscs.IfyoudonothaveaninternalDVDdrive,you

canuseanexternalUSBDVDdrive.

•Duringtherecoveryprocess,alldataonthedrivewillbedeleted.Ifpossible,copyanyimportantdata

orpersonallesthatyouwanttokeepontoremovablemediaoranetworkdrivebeforeyoustartthe

recoveryprocess.

Torestorethecomputertotheoriginalfactorycongurationusingtherecoverydiscset,dothefollowing:

discs,recoverytakesatleastvehours.

1.MaketheCD/DVDdrivetherststartupdeviceinthestartupsequenceusingthefollowingprocedure:

a.PressandholddowntheF1key,andthenturnonthecomputer.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed

orifyouhearrepeatingbeeps,releasetheF1key.TheSetupUtilityprogramopens.

b.UsethearrowkeystoselectStartup➙Boot.

c.SelecttheCD/DVDdriveasthe1stBootDevice.

2.InserttheOperatingSystemRecoveryDiscintotheDVDdrive.
