Beforeyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyoureadInstallingandconguringRAID,andhavethe
necessaryinformation.Afteryoureplacedthesystemboard,RAIDmodeisrecoveredasdefault.Toconrm
theSATAmodesetting,youcanseethesettinginThinkPadSetupmenuasfollows:

Importantnoticesforhandlingthesystemboard:
Whenhandlingthesystemboard,bearthefollowinginmind.
•Thesystemboardhasanaccelerometer,whichcanbebrokenbyapplyingseveralthousandsofG-forces.
Note:Droppingasystemboardfromaheightofaslittleas6inchessothatitfallsatonahardbenchcansubject
theaccelerometertoasmuchas6,000G'sofshock.
•Becarefulnottodropthesystemboardonabenchtopthathasahardsurface,suchasmetal,wood,orcomposite.
•Ifasystemboardisdropped,youmusttestit,usingPC-DoctorforDOS,tomakesurethattheHDDActive
Protectionstillfunctions(seebelow).
Note:IfthetestshowsthatHDDActiveProtectionisnotfunctioning,besuretodocumentthedropinanyreject
report,andreplacethesystemboard.
•Avoidroughhandlingofanykind.
•Ateverypointintheprocess,besurenottodroporstackthesystemboard.
•Ifyouputasystemboarddown,besuretoputitonlyonapaddedsurfacesuchasanESDmatorconductive
corrugatedmaterial.
Afterreplacingthesystemboard,runPC-DoctorforDOStomakesurethatHDDActiveProtectionstillfunctions.The
procedureisasfollows:
1.Placethecomputeronahorizontalsurface.
2.RunDiagnostics➙ThinkPadDevices➙HDDActiveProtectionTest.
Attention:Donotapplyphysicalshocktothecomputerwhilethetestisrunning.
