Software requirements

The new IBM 7,200 rpm NL SAS 3.5-inch 512e HDDs and SEDs work with most

operating systems.

Some OS limitations have been found to exist when using drives with capacities

greater than 2.2 TB in JBOD configurations on 6 Gbps controllers. With earlier

release versions of some OSs, the boot drive must be 2 TB, or smaller. However, the

larger-size drives may be utilized for data storage capacity.

For optimal performance with 512e drives, the host system software stack must be

The new IBM 7,200 NL SAS 3.5-inch hot-swap 512e HDDs and SEDs products are

designated as customer setup. Customer installation instructions are included in the

system publications.

Installability

IBM 2 TB, 4TB, and 6 TB SAS NL 3.5-inch HDDs and SEDs are available as hot-swap

and are customer installable. Installation takes approximately 20 minutes.
