one-half of the current load. If there is only one power supply unit, it will
handle all of the current load. To ensure maximum protection against
power loss due to power supply unit failure or a power circuit tripping,
both power supply units must be connected and powered on. See
Table 10 on page 15 for the DS4100 AC power requirements.
See Figure 56 for an example of redundant power cabling.
Exception: The DS4100 single-controller storage server has only one
power supply, so it does not support power redundancy.
For details about power requirements, see “DS4100 specifications” on
page 14.
6. Go to “Turning the storage server on and off” on page 65 for the initial startup of
the storage server.
Attention: Before you power on the storage server, any storage expansion
units should be completely connected to the storage server.
Installing the DS4000 Storage Manager client
Refer to the IBM TotalStorage DS4000 Storage Manager 9.10 Installation and
Support Guide for the appropriate operating system for instructions on how to install
the Storage Manager software. Use that document and the online help to configure
the logical drives, partitions, and so on for the RAID controllers. Use your operating
