- IBM switch Users and Maintenance Guide
In Figure 78, the existing DS4100 configuration already includes two DS4000
EXP100s. The dashed lines show you how to add a third DS4000 EXP100 to the
configuration. To add the new DS4000 EXP100 shown in Figure 78, you would
perform the following steps:
1. Verify that the existing configuration is powered on and is in optimal state. Use
the DS4000 Storage Manager client to correct any problems before proceeding.
2. Unpack the new DS4000 EXP100 and mount it in the proper position on the
rack cabinet.
3. Make the fibre-channel connection marked 1 in Figure 78 (drive loop B). Then
power on the new DS4000 EXP100 and verify that it is recognized by the
DS4000 Storage Manager software GUI.
4. Make the fibre-channel connection marked 2 in Figure 78.
5. Make the fibre-channel connection marked 3 in Figure 78 (drive loop A).
6. Use the DS4000 Storage Manager client to verify the ESM firmware version of
the new EXP100.
v If the ESM firmware version of the new DS4000 EXP100 is version 953x or
lower, disconnect the new DS4000 EXP100 and contact IBM support, your
IBM reseller, or your IBM representative for assistance.
v If the ESM firmware version of the new EXP100 is version 9554 or higher,
but does not match exactly the ESM firmware version of the DS4000
EXP100s that were already installed in the DS4100 configuration, then refer
to the procedures for resolving ESM firmware mismatches in the IBM
TotalStorage DS4000 EXP100 Expansion Unit Installation, User’s, and
Maintenance Guide.
