20. Install the RAID controller, as shown in Figure 77.
a. Slide the RAID controller all the way into the empty slot.
b. Close both levers until the latch locks into place.
21.
Install the SFPs and then connect the fibre-channel cables to their original
locations.
22. On the DS4100 single-controller storage server, turn on power to the storage
server and attached devices. For the proper power-on sequence, see “Turning
on the storage server” on page 66.
23. On the DS4100 base storage server, wait approximately one minute and then
use the DS4000 Storage Manager client to place the controller in online state
(it was placed offline in step 6 on page 106).
24. If the operation fails, repeat the command. If the operation fails again, reseat
the controller and repeat this step.
Note: Note that on all DS4100 models, it might take 15 minutes to a few
hours for a new battery to become fully charged. The DS4000 Storage
Manager client will show the battery as failed until it is fully charged.
Controller caching is automatically disabled until the new battery
becomes fully charged.
25. Use the DS4000 Storage Manager client to monitor the status of the storage
server and to reset the battery age.
Note: On the DS4100 base storage server, there are two cache batteries in
the unit (one for each controller). Make sure that you reset the age for
the correct battery.
