PIN Pad Security Essential
PIN pads provide an extra layer of security against card fraud. In
fact, they’re so effective that regulatory bodies in the United
Kingdom will require their use with all POS terminals beginning
01 January 2005.

S7SC Smart Card PIN Pads support several secure card
access technologies and are equipped with 256K Random Access Memory
(RAM) to support PIN pad-based POS applications. They operate with all
Hypercom terminals and can be connected to ECRs or POS systems using a
Hypercom adapter.
Prevents Inadvertent Corruption
S7SC card readers prevent cards from being removed during transactions, thus causing
inadvertent corruption of EPROM-based memory. Positive card ejection is controlled by both
hardware and software to ensure cards are properly ejected at the end of transactions, as well
as in the event of power failure or other system error.
S7SC PIN Pads have a range of hardware and software features that ensure encryption key and
PIN security. The housing is sealed and the entire microprocessor and memory are
permanently encapsulated in a metal housing.
