Seedling Heat Mat
Seedling heat mats offer versatility and portability for all your horticultural needs. Sizes
are available for various hobby and commercial applications. The durable double-layer
construction is waterproof, and makes them ideal for greenhouses, nurseries, and
hydroponic hobby gardens in need of maintaining a specific root zone temperature for
valuable crops.
Instructions:
1. Place the mat on a stable dry surface this side up.
2. Plug the mat into a 120v source only.
SPECIAL NOTES: PLEASE READ BEFORE OPERATING
To maintain stability in the root zone temperature we recommend a digital Heat
Mat Thermostat (item# MTPRTC) and an insulated surface for optimal control.
Covering the seedling or cuttings propagation trays with a humidity dome will
help ensure consistent temperature regulation.
Seedling heat mats are designed to raise the root zone temperatures approximately
10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above ambient air temperature.
Seedlings and cuttings prefer light that is not too strong, such as hot, direct
sunlight. Full spectrum fluorescents are an optimal quality light source that works
excellent when placed a few inches from the humidity dome or plant tops.
High intensity discharge lighting is adequate for seedlings and cuttings as long as
it is placed at safe distances, such as the ambient light and not directly underneath.
Seedlings and cuttings should be kept moist, not wet. Do not allow excess
standing water as this could lead to damping off. Overwatering is just as
undesirable as not enough.
Transplant the seedlings or cuttings when a healthy network of roots (multiple
white roots) has formed out of the starter cube.
WARNINGS:
Fire or electric shock may result from improper use.
Make sure that the surface under the mat is free of sharp points or objects which
might puncture or damage the mat.
