HMGWIN 3000 English 1 General Information The PC software HMGWIN 3000 can only be used in conjunction with the HYDAC Portable Data Recorder HMG 3000 or to process/evaluate measurements recorded using the HYDAC portable data recorders. We cannot accept any liability or provide warranty outside this field of application. Our “General Conditions of Sale and Delivery” and the “Special Conditions of Sale and Delivery for Software Products / Freeware” apply to the use of the HMGWIN 3000.

HMGWIN 3000 English Page 6 2.2.2 Step 2 In the following Wizard, select the button “Install software from a list or specific location (for advanced users)” (XP) or “Search for a suitable driver for the unit (recommended)” (Windows 2000), and confirm with “Next”.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 7 2.2.3 Step 3 Windows now tries to locate the driver files. Choose “Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...)" (Windows XP) or "CD-ROM drives“ (Windows 2000). Now insert the CD-ROM supplied in your CD-ROM drive.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 8 2.2.4 Step 4 After Windows has searched the CD-ROM the driver files are installed. NOTE: A warning now appears with Windows XP telling you that the drivers are not certified by Microsoft and could therefore cause harm to your computer. Select "Continue with installation"; you can be sure that no harm will come to your computer.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 9 Successful installation is indicated in the "Completing the Wizard" window by the message "The wizard has finished installing the software for: …" appearing. Now click on “Finish” to complete installation of the drivers. 2.3 Installing HMGWIN 3000 • Call up the file “HMGWIN3000_VXX_RXX-SETUP.EXE” in the “Installation” folder and follow the instructions of the “Setup Wizard”. 2.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 10 Now you can communicate directly with the HMG 3000 from your PC by selecting “Measured values”, “Recordings”, “Settings”, “Start recording” and “Disconnect”. You also have the option of conveniently processing, rendering, and evaluating the measurements you have conducted. 2.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 11 3 Using HMGWIN Note: All options can only be selected using the mouse. 3.1 Viewing actual measured values of the HMG 3000 in HMGWIN 3000 • To view actual measured values of the HMG Click on the “HMG 3000” dialogue box. “HMG 3000” opens in a new window. Click on “Current measured values” on the left hand side of the window. The measured values of all active channels of the HMG 3000 appear on the right. Click on “Smaller” to display the measured values in a smaller size.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 12 Select one or more recordings in the list. Click on “Save“ in the line under the recordings. “Select folder“ opens in a new window. Select “Keep name of recording“ or “Ask for new file name“ in the dropdown menu. Select the folder in which the recording is to be saved. If you selected “Keep name of recording“ the recordings will be saved immediately with the same name as in the HMG. If you selected “Ask for new file name“ the “Save recording as“ window opens.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 13 3.3 Views of a measurement curve There are four views of a measurement curve: Graph, Table, Recorded data, Description. All four views can be selected either in the dropdown menu of the “View“ dialogue box or at the top of the screen, directly underneath the “Tool bar“. • Graph: displays the measurement curve as a function (for edit options, see “Working on a Measurement Curve“ and “Editing a Measurement Curve“).

HMGWIN 3000 English Page 15 3.4.5 Zoom Out • Click on the “Graph“ dialogue box and select “Tools“ in the dropdown menu and “Zoom out“ in the submenu, or select “Zoom out“ at the bottom of the screen. • “Zoom out“ is now highlighted at the bottom of the screen. • When you move the mouse over the graph the mouse pointer turns into a magnifying glass with a minus sign. • Zooming out functions in a similar manner to zooming in.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 16 Scaling type of channels: o Scale all channels separately: when default scaling is applied, each channel is rendered optimally in a separate window with its maximum and minimum value. o Scale channels with the same unit jointly: when default scaling is applied the smallest and largest measured value overall is used for scaling between these two values. The same scaling is applied to all channels with the same unit.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 17 Anchor o The checkbox in front of “Anchor to measured value“ is initially activated (i.e. checked). To enter text without anchoring it to a measured value, deactivate this function by clicking on the checkbox. o If the checkbox is activated you can select the sensor (measurement channel) to which the remark is to be anchored (checkmark in the checkbox of the respective sensor). o You can also indicate the time at which the remark is to be anchored to the measurement curve.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 18 3.4.12 Remarks List • Click on the “Graph“ dialog and select “Remarks list“ in the dropdown menu, or select “Remarks list“ at the bottom of the screen. • A window opens with the remark list. • All remarks are listed along with the particular X axis allocated, their anchor, their position on the X axis (time), and the relevant remark text. • The entire text of the blue-highlighted remark appears in the lower box.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 19 3.4.14 Back • To undo changes in the view, click on the “Graph“ dialogue box and select “Back“ in the dropdown menu, or select “Back“ at the bottom of the screen. You can do this as many times as there are changes. 3.4.15 Forwards • To redo changes which have been “Undone” in the graph view click on the “Graph“ dialogue box and select “Forwards“ in the dropdown menu, or by select “Forwards“ at the bottom of the screen.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 20 3.5 Editing a Measurement Curve You have various options for editing and processing a curve. All of the functions for this are located in the dropdown menu of the “Edit“ dialogue box. “Extract Recording... “ and “Curve Overlay... “ create a measurement which is filed in the left box when files are open, the files being named “Recording X“ (x = sequential number). They are not stored automatically however. 3.5.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 21 • Click on “Close“ to return to the main window. • The time axis is now marked with an asterisk (*time [ms]). This means that at least one of the curves has been time-shifted. • To undo the shifts, return to the “Wizard for Time-shifting of channels“ (see above). • Click on “Delete“ to undo the shift of the active channel (see name in upper box). Click on “Delete All“ to remove the time shift on all channels.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 22 3.5.6 Remove Channels CAUTION: This action cannot be undone! • To remove, i.e. not just hide, individual measurement channels, click on the “Edit“ dialogue box and select “Remove channels“ in the dropdown menu. • A new window opens in which all the channels of the recording are listed. • Select the channels to be removed. • When you have selected all of the channels to be removed, click on “OK“. • Click on “Cancel“ to cancel the action. 3.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 23 3.6.5 Export The export function enables you to save measured data in a format that can be exported to a spreadsheet program (e.g. Excel), for example. • To export a file, click on the “File“ dialogue box and select “Export…“ in the dropdown menu, or click on “Export…“ at the bottom left of the window. • Now the “Export data“ window opens.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 24 • In the upper section you can select whether the recording is to be stored in black & white (“Monochrome“) and whether the PDF file is to be opened directly after being created (“Show PDF document“). • In the lower section you can decide which portions of the recording are to be contained in the PDF document by clicking on the checkbox before the particular portion. • Click on “Create PDF“ to create the pdf document. • Click on “Cancel“ to cancel the action. 3.6.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 25 3.7 Editing the Settings of the HMG 3000 in HMGWIN 3000 3.7.1 Changing, Saving and Retrieving the Settings of the HMG You can modify the sensor, trigger, recording and display settings and automatic units of measurement in the HMG 3000 from your PC. Here you have a number of options for saving the settings or for retrieving saved settings. • To change, save or retrieve the settings in the HMG, click on the “HMG 3000 “ dialogue box. • “HMG 3000“ opens in a new window.
HMGWIN 3000 - English Page 26 When you have finished making all the display settings, click on “OK“ to save them or “Cancel“ to return to the Settings menu without saving them. Saving your settings: o There are two possibilities for saving the settings made by you: in the HMG 3000 or on your PC. o To save your settings in a file stored in the HMG 3000, select “Save to HMG“. You are now prompted to enter a name. In the HMG 3000 you will now find it in the “Settings manager“ menu.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 27 3.7.2 Start Recording Measurements can also be made from your PC. • To start recording from your PC, click on the “HMG 3000“ dialogue box. • “HMG 3000” opens in a new window. • If a link has been established to the HMG, the following items appear on the left: “Measured values“, “Recordings“, “Settings“, “Start recording“, “Disconnect” and “Communications settings“.
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 28 Click on “Full size“ to see the whole range again. By clicking on “Display settings“ a window will pop up. o You can choose whether the time or one of the sensors is to be scaled along the X axis. This enables a P/Q diagram to be rendered on line, for example. o By clicking on the checkbox for left Y axis and right Y axis you can determine which channels are to be displayed on the Y axis (right- or left-hand side of the graph).
HMGWIN 3000 English Page 29 3.8 Extras 3.8.1 Update für HMG 3000 • Click on the “Extras“ dialogue box and select “Update HMG 3000“ in the dropdown menu. • The Update Wizard window opens. • Click on “Next“. • Select the folder in which the new update file is saved. The Firmware version of the HMG 3000 (HMG3000_Vxx_Rxx.heupd) current at the time of purchase can be found in the “Installation” directory on the CD. • An update file always has the following file extension: *.heupd.
