.65 inch dimension.
d. Put slight tension on governor spring with lever (A) and install throttle
rod hardware between governor throttle lever and carburetor lever.
Adjust length of linkage rod so that carburetor lever is about 1/32 to
1/16 inch off it’s wide open stop. Tighten locking nuts on linkage rod.
e. Release spring tension and operate throttle lever manually to check
for any binding in linkage. Make corrections as required.
f. Start engine and warm to operating temperature.
g. Adjust low speed idle screw on carburetor to obtain 950 to 1050
RPM.
h. Manually pull lever (A) to full throttle position (against screw (E)) and
turn surge screw (C) clockwise until engine runs smoothly (without
surging). Do not tighten locking nut on surge screw (C).
i. Adjust high speed stop screw (E) to obtain 3100-3120 RPM. Tighten
locking nut on high speed stop screw (E).Set adjuster bracket (see
View B) so that when operator control lever is forward over center,
lever (A) is just touching the high speed stop screw (at 3100-3120
RPM). Lever (A) should not be forced against the high speed stop
screw.
j. With lever (A) against high speed stop screw (E), turn surge screw
(C) clockwise to increase engine to 3220-3230 RPM. Tighten locking
nut on surge screw (C).
k. Return operator control lever to idle position to verify the engine
RPM’s as set in step e. above. Reset if required.
l. Adjust low speed stop screw (F) on governor to meet arm (D) and
tighten locking nut on low speed stop screw (F).
m. If engine hunts or surges at no-load when lever (A) is repositioned
against high speed stop screw (E). Adjust surge screw (C) clockwise
a very slight amount (approximately 10 RPM’s increase). Repeat
steps i, j and k until engine stops hunting. Do not exceed high idle
no-load engine speed of 3250 RPM.
n. Check engine RPM with pump engaged. Engage pump at idle
speed. Increase RPM to full throttle. RPM should be with pump
engaged 3150-3170 RPM.
Step 6. Check the rear neutral lock (483735) to be sure it is free to fall into the down (locked)
position.
Step 7. Fill and Flush the Hydraulic System
Step 8. Steering Lever Adjustment
• Check and set measurement for the neutral positioning linkage. Do not tighten
the two front nuts on the threaded rod (766303).
• After flushing the hydraulic system, the hydraulic oil will be sufficiently warm to
make the final steering lever adjustment.
