Description of Air Filtration System How the HEPAtech+UVC Air Purifier System Works As the air is pulled into the purifier, the activated carbon Pre-Filter absorbs odors and catches large particles. Then, the air travels through the HEPAtech® filter where the smaller particles are collected. Next, the air passes through the UVC Field, which helps reduce airborne pathogens such as germs, viruses, mold, and mildew.
Description of Air Filtration System Display and Control Keys SPEED KNOB: Adjusts the blower speed and turns the unit on and off. Pre-Filter Reset: Resets the Carbon Pre-Filter Life Counter. FILTER RESET / UVC RESET: Resets the HEPAtech® Filter Life Counter; resets the UVC Lamp Life Counter. IONIZER KEY: Turns the Ionizer on and off. UVC KEY: Turns the UVC on and off. Operation Initial Operation This section provides basic instructions on the use of your Air Purifier. After following these initial directions, please continue reading this booklet to learn how to operate the more advanced features of your Air Purifier. Basic Operation of the Air Purifier: 1. Take the Air Purifier out of the box and remove the clear plastic protective bag. Place the unit on a firm level floor. 2.

Operation Filter Life Counters The Pre-Filter and Filter are critical to the proper operation of the Air Purifier. To help you know when to change the filters, your Hunter Air Purifier has Filter Life Counters that will monitor the life of your filters. Although the exact life of the filters depends on the environment, the table below gives typical usage times of the filters.
Air Purifier Maintenance Cleaning Your Air Purifier Proper maintenance of your Hunter Air Purifier will help ensure years of trouble free service. Follow these steps to properly maintain your Air Purifier: 1. Approximately every 90 days, the outside of the unit should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. 2. If needed, the Front Grill can be removed from the unit and cleaned with soapy water. Simply remove the Pre-Filter before exposing the Grill to water. 3.
Air Purifier Maintenance Pre-Filter Hook Tape Filter Fig. 10 Fig. 9 Changing the Filter When the filter exceeds 2800 hours (approximately 4 to 6 months of use), the Filter indicator will turn on as a reminder that you should replace the filter. (Refer to Filter Life Counters for additional information, pg. 8.) This is a reminder that you should check the Filter and replace if necessary. The proper time to change the Filter depends on usage and the environment.
Air Purifier Maintenance Changing the UVC Lamp When the UVC Lamp exceeds 8000 hours (approximately 1 year of use), the UVC Lamp filter Indicator will turn on as a reminder that you should replace the UVC Lamp to maintain airborne pathogen reduction capability. If necessary, the UVC Lamp can be changed more often. Refer to Obtaining Replacement UVC Lamps (pg. 14) if you need help finding replacement UVC Lamps.
Air Purifier Maintenance 5. Carefully lift the Lamp Cover Straight up, and remove it from the unit. Refer to Figs 12A and 12B. Fig. 12b Fig. 12A 6. Carefully twist the UVC Lamp until the lamp’s copper prongs are visible in the Lamp Sockets. Then, carefully remove the Lamp from the unit. Refer to Fig. 13. NOTE: HANDLE THE UVC LAMP CAREFULLY. IT MAY SHATTER IF IT IS DROPPED. DISPOSE OF THE UVC BULB IN ACCORDANCE TO LOCAL OR STATE REQUIREMENTS AS TRACE AMOUNTS OF MERCURY ARE PRESENT IN BULB.
Air Purifier Maintenance 7. Carefully remove the Lamp from the unit. Refer to Fig. 14. Fig. 14 8. Carefully insert the new UVC Lamp’s copper prongs into the Lamp Sockets, and twist the Lamp until it is securely in place. 9. Position the Lamp Cover over the Lamp, and slide it downward until it is sceurely in place. NOTE: THE UNIT WILL NOT OPERATE IF THE LAMP COVER IS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY. 10. Install the Lamp Cover Screws. 11. Press the filter firmly into the Air Purifier.
Air Purifier Maintenance Filter and Lamp Ordering Depending on usage and the environment, your Carbon Pre-Filter should be replaced every three months and your Hepatech filter should be replaced every 6 months. The UVC lamp should be replaced every other time you replace your filter, or every year. Replacement filters are available at most retailers that carry Hunter Air Purifiers.
