SECTION V – TROUBLESHOOTING

Flame safeguard locked out. Reset flame safeguard.
Manual gas valve closed. Open gas valve and reset flame
safeguard.
Blown control circui t. Replace fuse.

No hot water.
Gas pressure too high or too
low.
Reset gas pressure switch and reset
flame safeguard.
Operating control thermostat
set too low.
Increase control thermostat setting to
a higher temperature. Note: Hig her
water temperatures in crease the
danger of scalding.
Input rate too low/not operating at
peak efficiency.
Call serviceman to check input rate
and efficiency.
Water not hot enough.
Recovery rate too low for
demand.
Check firetubes for soot. Inspect and
clean for scale and sediment build-up.
Operating control thermostat
failed.
Call serviceman t o replace control
thermostat.
Water temperature too hot.
Operating control thermostat
set too high.
Adjust operating contr ol ther mostat to
lower tempera ture.
Temperature and pressure
safety relief valve not closed.
Replace valve. Water le a ks.
If leakage source cannot be
determined.
Shut off fuel and electrical supply ,
close cold wate r inle t valve , and c all
serviceman.
