3 Getting to Know Your EC305/325/355 Data Modem Indicator This LED indicates the status of your EC305/325/355. Normally, the indicator is blue. Indicator status Meaning The indicator is not blinking. EC321 is disabled. The indicator is blinking all the time. EC321 is to startup. One flash every two seconds The EC305/325/355 is searching for a network, or no network is currently available. Double flashes every two seconds The network is normal.
4 Getting Started Computer Configuration Requirements To use the EC305/325/355, the following are required for your computer: z z z z z z CPU: Pentium 4 1GHz or above Memory: 256MB RAM or above Hard Disk: 50MB free disk space OS: Windows XP or Windows 2000 operating system Data Card Interface: A type II PCMCIA Card slot, supporting CARDBUS Display Resolution: Display resolution of 800 by 600 pixels or above; that of 1024 by 768 pixels is recommended.
4 Getting Started 3. As shown in the following figure, place the slot into the EC305/325/355.
5 Installation Guide The installation process differs slightly in different operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows 2000. During the actual installation, if any step differs from what is described here, please follow the specific installation instructions. Here, we take the Windows XP operating system as an example. Note: Please make sure that the EC305/325/355 Manager has been installed before the EC305/325/355 Data Modem is connected to the computer. Installing the EC305/325/355 Manager 1.
5 Installation Guide Installing the EC305/325/355 Hardware Driver 1. Connect the USB Modem to the computer with a compatible USB cable. 2. The system will find the new hardware and start the New Hardware Installation Wizard automatically. 3. If a prompt such as "The software failed to pass the Windows logo test" appears, click to continue. 4. When the system prompts you that the installation is finished, click to finish the installation of the EC305/325/355 driver.
6 The EC305/325/355 Manager GUI Description Accessing the EC305/325/355 Manager GUI 1. To start the program, double click the shortcut icon of the EC305/325/355 Manager on the desktop. 2. If you are prompted to enter the PIN (Personal Identification Number) code, please enter the correct one and click . You can try three times to enter your PIN code. If you failed to do that after three times, your UIM card would be locked. If this happens, use the PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) code to unlock it.

8 Internet Service Step 3 Operation and description After a prompt indicating that the connection is set up appears, click on or start the Explorer on your computer, and then you can access the Internet. 4 Click on to disconnect the connection.
9 Call Service When you request the call service, you should insert the earphone to the jack on the EC305/325/355. Note: You can use the control key on the earphone to answer or reject an incoming call conveniently: z z z When the ring for an incoming call sounds, you can press the control key to answer the call; When the ring for an incoming call sounds, you can press and hold the control key to reject it; During a call, you can press and hold the control key to end the call.
9 Call Service Step 2 Operation and description Enter a telephone number by one of the following ways: z z Enter the number directly with the keyboard of your computer. Click the telephone keypad on the Call screen. 3 Click on to make a call. 4 Click on to hang up. Note: You can remove the number on the call screen digit by digit by pressing the key. Pressing and holding down it can remove the whole number. You can also press the backspace key to do this.
9 Call Service Step 3 Operation and description to hang up. 9 Call Service Volume Adjustment and Mute Click on or select Tools Æ Call, the Call service screen is displayed. You can adjust the volume no matter when you are making a call or not. You can also mute your voice so that the person you are talking to cannot hear you even though the line is still active. z To increase the volume, press To decrease the volume, press To mute your voice, press z To resume normal talk, press z z . . . .
10 SMS Sending and Receiving Messages Writing New Messages or select Tools Æ SMS, the SMS (Short Message Service) screen Click on is displayed: Step Operation and description 1 Click , the Write screen is displayed. 2 Enter telephone number. You can enter one or more numbers by one of the following ways: z z To enter one or more numbers directly: In the Contacts textbox, input numbers directly with semicolons ";" as the separator.
10 SMS Step Operation and description 3 Input the message, the character number is displayed in real time on the upper right of the Contacts text box. The maximum length of each message is 1000 characters. 4 z z z Click to send the message. After the message is sent out, it is saved automatically to the Outbox. If the sending fails, you will be prompted whether to send it again. If you cancel the sending, the message will be saved automatically to the Outbox.

There are two types of icons in the Inbox: : Standing for unread messages; : Standing for read messages. 2. View Messages When New Messages Come According to the settings you have made on Settings Æ Options, You can be alerted to a new message in different ways.
10 SMS Replying Messages You can reply to the sender directly in the Inbox. Step Operation and description 1 Select a message or double click it to go to the screen with the detailed message and click . 2 The telephone number of the original sender appears automatically in the blank field behind the "Contacts" and you can change it. 3 Input the content for the message you want to reply. 4 Click . Forwarding Messages You can forward messages received in the Inbox.
10 SMS Step Operation and description 2 The call service screen is displayed, the number of the sender appears and it is dialed out automatically at the same time. Removing Messages You can remove the messages you have received. Step 1 Operation and description z z 2 Select one or more messages and click ; Double click a message to go to the screen with the detailed message and click . The messages are removed to the Trash.
10 SMS coming, the earliest message in the Outbox will be moved to the Trash automatically. Access the SMS screen, click and the Outbox is displayed. Viewing Messages in the Outbox You may go to the Outbox to check and view messages: Step Operation and description 1 You may browse all the messages in the Outbox. 2 Double click a message to view the detailed contents. Sending Messages In the Outbox, you can send a new message to the receivers you have already sent a message to.
10 SMS Step Operation and description 2 Input the telephone number you want to forward to in the blank column behind the "Contacts", or Click to select the number you want. 3 The content of the message you want to forward appears automatically in the text box. You can edit it. 4 Click to forward the message. Making Calls In the Outbox, you can dial out a number of a receiver whom a message has been sent to.
10 SMS Saving Numbers You can save the receiver number of a message in the Outbox to your contacts. Step Operation and description 1 Select a message or double click it to go to the screen with the detailed message and click . 2 The new contact screen is displayed, and the receiver number of this message appears automatically in the Mobile column. 3 Input the information for this number as required. 4 Click .
10 SMS Removing Messages You can remove the messages in the Draft. Step Operation and description 1 Select one or more messages and click . 2 The messages are removed to the Trash. Trash The messages you removed from the Inbox, Outbox and Draft are all stored in the Trash. Up to 1000 messages can be stored in the Trash. When the Trash is full and another message is removed to it, the earliest message in this box is removed automatically.
10 SMS Reports The Reports contains all the message reports you have received. Up to 1000 message reports can be stored in the Reports. When this box is full and another report is coming in, the earliest report in this box is removed automatically. Access the SMS screen, click and the Reports box is displayed: Step Operation and description 1 Select one or more messages and click . 2 If you are sure, click and this return notification message is removed.

11 Managing Your Contacts The EC305/325/355 supports up to 1000 items in the Contacts. You can create, modify and delete items in the Contacts. You can also send messages, make calls with the contacts. The EC305/325/355 also supports the import/export of the contacts for your convenience to manage the Contacts. Managing the Items in the Contacts , or select Tools Æ Contacts, and the contacts management screen is Click on displayed.

Making Calls You can dial out the number you have selected from the contacts. 11 Managing Your Contacts The procedure is as follows: Step Operation and description 1 Select File Æ Export Contacts To File. 2 Select whether to be compatible with the Outlook from the pop-up window according to the actual conditions, and then select . Note: If you need export the contacts to the Outlook, check the checkbox, otherwise, error may occur while exporting. 3 In the Save as window, input a file name with .csv as its extension.
11 Managing Your Contacts Step Operation and description 1 From the window of Contacts Manager, you can select the source position and the aim position for the importing. 2 Select an operation mode: z z 3 Choose the contacts information at the source position. Then, z z 46 Copy: the contacts information at the source position will be kept Move: the contacts information at the source position will be deleted Click on to import the contacts information from the left of the arrow to the right of it.
12 Call Logs The call log contains information about dialed, received and missed calls. Each kind of log supports up to 1000 items. Click on or select Tools Æ Call Log, the Call Log screen is displayed. Missed Calls Click , and the Missed Calls screen is displayed. Sending Messages You can send messages to the numbers in the Missed calls items. Step Operation and description 1 Select one or more items.

13 PC Fax The EC305/325/355 supports the service of PC fax. You can select PC fax software freely. Step Operation and description 1 Be sure that you have installed the management program for EC305/325/355 completely and that the EC305/325/355 is connected to the computer; 2 Install the fax software on the computer; 3 Select “HUAWEI Mobile Connect-3G Modem” as the modem for the PC fax software; 4 Follow the relevant descriptions of the PC fax software to operate the fax.
14 Settings and Information Query PIN Code Management The PIN code is used to prevent your UIM card from the invalid uses. Generally, the PIN code is provided along with your UIM card. You can change your PIN code, and you can also enable/disable the PIN feature. If you enable the feature, you must enter a PIN code when the EC305/325/355 starts up. PIN Code Modification You can change your PIN code: Step Operation and description 1 Select Settings Æ Modify PIN Code.
14 Settings and Information Query Step Operation and description 1 Select Settings Æ PIN Code Protection. 2 z Selecting "Validate", you can access the PIN code validation flow which is the same as that when the EC manager starts. For more information, please refer to the descriptions on page 11. PIN Code Protection You can enable/disable the PIN feature. If the feature is enabled, you must enter a PIN code when the EC305/325/355 starts up. Otherwise, you need not do this.

16 FAQ on the EC305/325/355 Data Modem How to Judge Whether the EC305/325/355 Data Modem has been Installed Correctly? After installing the EC305/325/355 Data Modem, two devices are displayed in the device manager, namely, the “HUAWEI Mobile Connect-3G Modem” and the “HUAWEI Mobile Connect-3G Application Interface”. Check whether these two devices are installed correctly at first.
16 0 FAQ on the EC305/325/355 Data Modem When a Message is received, no Prompt Window Appears. Why? Because you have not set the function of “Display alerts when a message is received”. Select [Settings/Options], and then check the “Display alerts when a message is received” from the “Message alerts settings”. How to Dial the Telephone Numbers with “+” Sign? Double-click the “*/+” key on the telephone service interface, or input it through the PC keyboard.

Such devices include hearing aids, pacemakers, fire alarm systems, automatic gates, and other automatic-control devices. If you are using an electronic medical device, consult the device manufacturer and confirm whether the radio wave affects the operation of this electronic device.

Otherwise, circuit failure may happen as a result. Do not leave your wireless device in a high-temperature place or use them in a place with flammable gas. Otherwise, malfunction of the product, fire, or explosion may happen as a result. The wireless device is not water-resistant. Keep it dry in use.
