Quick start guide Before you do anything else, please read this Charge the battery The battery in your phone hasn’t been charged yet. While your phone is charging, it’s important that you do not remove the battery pack. Doing so can damage your phone. Also, please don’t try to take your phone apart. (If you do, it may invalidate your warranty.) Choose a rate plan wisely Your phone can use up a lot of Internet bandwidth really quickly.

Quick start guide 3. Before you turn on your phone 1 Take the back cover off Put your fingertip into the narrow opening at the top of the phone. Lift off the top left side of the back cover, and then push it to the right to remove the back cover completely. 2 Take the battery out Put your fingertip into the small groove located at the right side of the battery compartment, and then lift the battery out.
Quick start guide 5 Put the back cover on Line up the bottom of the back cover with the two small openings at the bottom of the phone, and then gently push the back cover down. When you hear a click, it’s secure. 6 Charge the battery Connect the USB connector of the power adapter to the phone, and then plug in the power adapter to an electrical outlet. It will take about three hours for the battery to be fully charged.

Get started The first time you turn your phone on, you’ll get to choose some basic phone settings and set up your online accounts such as Gmail™/Google Mail™, Facebook™, and Twitter™. You’ll need an Internet connection to log in to your online accounts. 1. Choose your language, and then tap Next. 2. Decide whether you want your current location to be detected. Tap Agree to use a third-party location service. If you’d rather not, tap Disagree.
Quick start guide 7. Set weather and location information on your phone. Tap the On/Off buttons to turn automatic updates on or off, and then tap Next. This service may result in additional charges from your mobile provider. You can turn off automatic updates at any time in Settings > Data services. 8. Your phone sets the current time and date. This may be network-provided or through location service (if enabled).
Quick start guide Onscreen keyboard basics Shift. Tap to enter an uppercase letter. Tap twice to turn Caps lock on. Enter. Tap to create a new line. If multiple lines are not allowed, tapping this key closes the onscreen keyboard. Delete. Tap to erase the previous character. Orientation. Tap to switch between Phone Keypad (displayed only in portrait orientation) and QWERTY (displayed only in landscape orientation). Close. Tap when you’re done typing. Input mode. Quick start guide 11 Different Scenes for work and play Your phone becomes multiple phones in one when you use scenes. Scenes are personalized Home screen configurations that you can quickly apply to your phone to suit your mood - be it for work or play. You can even create your own scene to fit your life style and daily needs. To choose a preset scene, press MENU while on the main Home screen, tap Scenes, and then tap a scene you want to use.
Quick start guide Smart Dial Your phone lets you dial by name or by number. Press the CALL button, enter the first few characters or digits of a contact’s name or phone number, and then tap a contact from the filtered list. Smart web experience There is a smart zoom, which enlarges and reflows the text on web pages for your reading pleasure with just a double-tap on the screen. Double tap an area to quickly zoom in or out.
Quick start guide 13 6. Add your contacts You can create new contacts on your phone or import existing ones from your SIM card. When you open the People application for the first time, you will be asked whether to import SIM card contacts to your phone. Tap OK to import. Adding a new contact on your phone 1. Press and hold the BACK/HOME button to return to the Home screen, and then slide to the People screen. 2. Press MENU, and then tap All to open the People application. 3.

Select a contact. 4. On the Default action screen, choose what contact method to use for the favorite contact (phone call, text message, or email). 7. Quick start guide 15 Sending an email 1. From the main Home screen, press the BACK/HOME button to open the All Programs panel. 2. Tap Mail. 3. If you have not set up your email account, tap the type of account or tap Other. On the subsequent screens, enter your account details, and then tap Save. 4. In your inbox, press MENU, and then tap New. 5. Tap the text box that says “Tap to add recipient,” and then enter a contact name or email address. 6. Enter a subject and your message. 7. Tap Send. 9.
Quick start guide 10. Capture photos and videos When something amazing happens right before your eyes, have your phone camera ready to instantly capture snapshots or record it on video. 1. Press the CAPTURE button to open the camera. 2. Tap the Capture mode switch ( to Photo or Video mode. ) to set the camera 3. Point the camera at your subject. 4. Tap the onscreen Flashlight button to choose a flash mode: Auto (available only in Photo mode), On, or Off.
Quick start guide 17 3. Put the back cover on, and then press and hold the END CALL/POWER button to power on. Connecting your phone to a computer 1. Connect your phone and computer with the USB cable that came in the box. 2. On the USB connected screen, tap Mount SD card, and then tap OK. When the storage card is mounted, you won’t be able to open its files using your phone. 3. On your computer, the connected phone is recognized as a removable disk (just like any USB drive).
Quick start guide 13. Factory resetting Need to start over? If you’re passing your phone on to someone else or just want a fresh start, you can factory reset your phone. It’s not a step to be taken lightly. Factory resetting your phone will delete all your data. It returns the phone to the state it was in before the first time you turned it on. Be sure to back up data (contacts and files) that you want to keep before you factory reset your phone. Resetting the phone through settings 1.
