Configuring 802.1X Parameters 319
Configuring 802.1X
Parameters
The IEEE 802.1X standard provides an authentication framework that
supports a variety of methods for authenticating and authorizing network
access for wired or wireless users. You can configure 802.1X
authentication parameters for an individual WX or for a domain policy.
CAUTION: 802.1X parameter settings are global for all SSIDs configured
on the WX switch.
To configure 802.X authentication:
1 In the Organizer panel in the main 3WXM window, navigate to the WX
you want to configure.
2 Expand the WX switch to see the configuration options.
3 Select 802.1X.
4 Select Config > Edit. The Modify 802.1X dialog box appears.
5 To enable 802.1X authentication for all wired authentication ports on the
WX switch, select Enabled.
To disable 802.1X authentication for all wired authentication ports, clear
Enabled. By default, 802.1X authentication for all wired authentication
ports is enabled.
6 To specify the number of seconds the WX switch waits before attempting
reauthentication of 802.1X clients, specify the timeout value (0 to 65,535
seconds) in the Quiet Period Timeout box. The default is 60 seconds.
7 To specify the number of seconds the WX switch waits before
retransmitting an Extensible Authentication Protocol over LAN (EAPoL)
packet, specify the timeout value (1 to 65,535 seconds) in the Retransmit
Timeout box. The default is 5 seconds.
8 To specify the number of seconds before the WX switch times out an
authentication session with a 802.1X client (supplicant), specify the
timeout value (1 to 65,535 seconds) in the Supplicant Timeout box. The
default is 30 seconds.
9 To specify the number of seconds before the WX switch times out a
request to an authentication server, specify the timeout value (1 to
65,535 seconds) in the Authentication Server Timeout box. The default is
30 seconds.
