Connecting to RADIUS Servers and Server Groups 265
Although you can use the local database on the WX switch to
authenticate users, 3Com recommends using RADIUS to accommodate
the large number of users in an enterprise network.
For information about the RADIUS attributes supported by Mobility
System Software (MSS), see the Wireless LAN Switch and Controller
Configuration Guide.
Defining RADIUS
Default Values
You can set default values for certain RADIUS parameters that apply to
RADIUS servers and server groups you create for an individual WX. The
following RADIUS parameters, except system IP address, are defined with
default values, which you can change:
Timeout (generally set for only troubleshooting purposes)
Retry count (generally set for only troubleshooting purposes)
Dead time
Key
Authorization password
Use of system IP address
To change default values for RADIUS parameters
1 Access the WX Switch wizard for the WX switch. (See “Accessing the WX
Switch Wizard” on page 187.)
2 Select AAA at the top of the wizard, if not already selected.
3 Select Default RADIUS Parameters from the organizer list on the left side
of the page, if not already selected.
4 In the Timeout box, specify how long
>? switch must wait (1 to 65,535
seconds) for a RADIUS server to respond before retransmitting. The
default is 5 seconds.
5 In the Retry Count box, specify the number of transmission attempts
(1 to 100) for a RADIUS request. The default is 3.
6 In the Dead Time box, specify the amount of time (0 to 1440 minutes)
that must elapse before the WX switch attempts to reach an
unresponsive RADIUS server. The default is 0 minutes.
