Configuring a Radio Profile 249
4 To change the interval at which radios reduce power after temporarily
increasing the power to maintain the minimum data rate for an
associated client, change the value in the Tx. Power Backoff Timer box.
At the end of each power-backoff interval, radios that temporarily
increased their power reduce it by 1 dBm. The power backoff continues
in 1 dBm increments after each interval until the power returns to
expected setting.
You can specify from 0 to 65535 seconds. The default is 10 seconds.
5 To enable automatic configuration and tuning of the channel, select Yes
next to Tune Channel. This feature is enabled by default.
6 To change the interval at which RF Auto-Tuning decides whether to
change the channels on radios in a radio profile, change the value in the
Channel Tuning Interval box.
At the end of each interval, MSS processes the results of the RF scans
performed during the previous interval, and changes radio channels if
needed.
You can specify from 0 to 65535 seconds. The default channel interval is
3600 seconds. 3Com recommends that you use an interval of at least
300 seconds (5 minutes). If you set the interval to 0, RF Auto-Tuning does
not reevaluate the channel at regular intervals. However, RF Auto-Tuning
can still change the channel in response to RF anomalies.
7 To change the minimum number of seconds a radio in a radio profile
must remain at its current channel assignment before RF Auto-Tuning
can change the channel, change the value in the Channel Tuning
Holddown box.
The channel holddown provides additional stability to the network by
preventing the radio from changing channels too rapidly in response to
spurious RF anomalies such as short-duration channel interference.
You can specify from 0 to 65535 seconds. The default channel interval is
900 seconds.
8 Do one of the following:
To map the radio profile to a service profile, click Next and see “To
map the radio profile to a service profile”.
To configure other radio profile parameters, click a button at the top
of the wizard.
To close the wizard and save the changes, click Finish.
