Configuring a Radio Profile 247
CAUTION: Countermeasures affect wireless service on a radio. When a
MAP radio is sending countermeasures, the radio is disabled for use by
network traffic, until the radio finishes sending the countermeasures.
8 To disable active scanning for rogue devices, deselect Enable Active Scan.
When active scan is enabled, radios send probe any requests (probe
requests with a null SSID name), to solicit probe responses from other
access points. Radios also passively scan by listening for beacons and
probe responses. When active scan is disabled, radios perform passive
scanning only.
9 To disable Wi-Fi Multimedia support, deselect Enable WMM.
WMM provides wireless Quality of Service for time-sensitive applications
such as voice and video. WMM is a pre-standard version of IEEE 802.11e,
provided by the Wi-Fi Alliance to enable vendors to provide interoperable
multimedia support before ratification of the standard.
10 Do one of the following:
To configure 802.11 attributes, click Next and see “To change
802.11 attributes”.
To configure other radio profile parameters, click a button at the top
of the wizard.
To close the wizard and save the changes, click Finish.
To change 802.11
attributes
To change 802.11 attributes, use the following procedure.
1 In the Create Radio Profile wizard, click 802.11 Attributes. The 802.11
Attributes page appears.
2 In the Beacon Interval box, specify the interval at which the MAP
advertises its SSIDs. You can specify from 25 to 8191 milliseconds (ms).
The default is 100 ms.
3 In the DTIM Period box, specify the number of beacons (1 to 31) the MAP
transmits before transmitting the multicast and broadcast frames stored
in its buffers. The default is 1.
4 In the Fragment Threshold box, specify the maximum length
(256 to 2346 bytes) a frame can be without being fragmented by the
MAP before transmission. The default is 2,346 bytes.
5 In the Long Retry Limit box, specify the number of times (1 to 15) the
MAP transmits an unacknowledged unicast frame that is longer than the
RTS threshold before discarding the frame. The default is 5.
