Configuring VLANs 193
Forward database aging timeout
The aging timeout period specifies how long a dynamic entry can
remain unused before the software removes the entry from the
database.
To configure VLAN basic properties
1 Access the WX Switch wizard for the WX switch. (See “Accessing the WX
Switch Wizard” on page 187.)
2 Select System and Administrative at the top of the wizard, if not already
selected.
3 Select VLANs from the organizer list on the left side of the page, if not
already selected.
4 Do one of the following:
To create a new VLAN, click New VLAN. The Create VLAN wizard
appears. Go to step 5.
To modify an existing VLAN, select the VLAN, then click Modify. The
Modify VLAN wizard appears. (This is the same as the Create VLAN
wizard, except for the title and the configured values for the VLAN.)
Go to step 5.
To delete a VLAN, select the VLAN, then click Delete. Click Finish at
the bottom of the Delete Objects dialog box that is displayed.
5 In the VLAN ID box, specify a VLAN number (2 to 4095). The VLAN
number must be unique on a particular WX.
6 In the VLAN Name box, type the name of the VLAN (1 to 16 alphabetic
characters long, with no numbers, spaces, or tabs).
7 In the Tunnel Affinity box, specify the numeric value (1 to 10) that each
WX in a Mobility Domain advertises for each of its VLANs. The default
is 5.
A higher tunnel affinity indicates a greater preference.
8 In the IP Address box, specify the IP address and subnet mask in classless
interdomain routing (CIDR) notation (for example, 10.10.10.10/16).
If you are creating a VLAN for a domain policy, this option is not
available.
9 To enable IP on the VLAN, select IP State. To disable this option, clear IP
State. By default, this option is disabled.
